Hi all,
Thanks for all the congratulations messages on my birth announcement thread. Thanks smarties for being a fab pester person.
Well I avoided induction
Friday evening I thought things may be starting and didn't get much sleep but things didin't get worse so thought this maynot be it. We decided that Emy would go to her grandparents on Saturday. By the afternoon the pains were coming regularly so went off to labour ward only to be told nothing more than latent labour (given a sweep though). I was still in pain so Emy went off to her other grandparents for the night (which was lucky). I contacted the labour ward again as I knew I wouldn't get any sleep and persudaded them to take me in so I could get some pain relief for sleep. I was assessed when I went in and my cervix wasn't dilated but was very favourable so I was given pethedine and had about 3 hours sleep in the antenatal ward. I was sick quite a bit even though I had the anti sickness jab, The pains were getting stronger but still only about 10 mins apart. I was examined at 4.30am and was 4 cm dilated so I was off to the labour ward and N was phoned to come in. Next 10 hours were painful! but manageble on gas and air. I continued with contractions every 10 mins right up until the end. I started pushing just before 3pm and after an hour they thought I would need forceps. It turns out her head was at a strange angle and her shoulder was out of line. Luckily as the doctor arrived she crowned, and with the help of a small cut, she was born at 3.59pm. She took well to feeding and still is at the moment and seems very content. Her big sister thinks she is fab. I had a really positive experience and motherhood the second time seems so much less stressful.
May I introduce Isabelle Mae born on Sunday 27th September at 3.59pm:
