Hello!!  Hubbie and I were discussing girls names, and want your views.  He loves

Lola Rose (Our surname begins with H)Big Smile

    Others are:

    Darcy Sarah

    Holly

    Maisie

What do you think?  I like Lola, but wonder if its too out there?  Any other suggestions?  Cheers!!!

I'm showing my age, but Lola just makes me think of the Kinks song "....she walked like a woman and talked like a man, oh my Lola."

And the other two sound a bit more like pet names (not names for a pet, just informal names) and don't have much gravitas if she wants to go on to be say, the Director of Public Prosecutions etc etc.

Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear, but you did ask for opinions!

I think Lola is nice - and really like it with Rose!  Our surname begins with H too and Im feeling like I should steer clear of H first names......what do you think?  I know you had Holly on your list and I like that too.

    Its soo hard!!!!!!

I love the name Lola and would have used it for one of my twins if we didn't have as surname which includes lot's of L's.

I love Maisie  and like both Darcy and Holly. We must have similar taste!

Our surname begins with D and obviously we have a Daisy.  I love same initial names and think Daisy Drummond goes well.

Lola makes me want to sing "Her name was Lola, she was a show girl" - sorry!

HOlly - like it, but it's my parents' dog's name

Darcy - different, but like it

    Maisie - not sure

I'm being honest, which I presume is what you want.  It's hard choosing names, isn't it?  Think we're finally settled on Poppy May (due day is 11/11 - Poppy Day)

Is Lola "out there"?  I thought that Charlie & had (over) familiarised it.  Although I think it's pretty, I wouldn't name my daughter a name that's so strongly associated with a cartoon.  Zippy and Bungle are out as well... Laugh I also associate it with the Barry Manilow song too much too.  I'd also personally avoid Rose as a middle name, because everyone* is giving it as a middle name at the moment.  It's the Ann or Lousie of the late 00s!

Holly and Maisie - pretty, but a bit too pet name like for me.

Darcy Sarah - nice names individually, but I don't like them together.

    *slight exageration

I love the name Lola Rose, think it's beautiful.

Holly is a favourite name of mine too and i don't think there's a problem with having a name with the same initial as your surname. Our surname begins with O and our current favourite is Olivia.

Another one who always thinks of the Kinks whenever I hear Lola, which is why although I like the name I couldn't name my child it as to me it will always remind me of a song about a tranny - sorry prob not what you wanted to hear.

I like Darcy and Holly but not keen on Maisie.

None of them are names I'd say I love though.

Lola has become more popular as a girl's name in recent years. So although it might make you think of 'Her name was Lola, etc' I think it will be just another name to children of the same age.

I know a Darcey - its pretty and makes me think of Darcey Bussell.

Holly and Maisie are both lovely names as well. Holly is quite popular. Depends if you want something unusual or not.
