Morning ladies
I am proud to announce the birth of my twin boys:
Ross Iain - 4.10oz
+
Nathan Austin - 5.1oz
...born at 34+2 wks on Wednesday 26 August at 2350hrs and 2352hrs by emergency c-section due to Ross's heartbeat going low each time I had a contraction (nearly had different birthdays!!!). My waters broke at work - I was leaving on the Friday, but they had other plans!!
I had time for one steriod injection for their lungs but they came before I could have the second. Ross was fine when he arrived but Nathan's lungs weren't mature enough and was whisked away to intensive care in SCBU after I gave him one little kiss. Nathan came to the ward with me for a few hours but then joined his brother as his blood sugar and temp was low. I am delighted to say they are now doing well and off the machines, they just have little feeding tubes going into their noses. Once they are strong enough to suck properly they will be removed.
I was discharged on Sunday but my boys will remain in SCBU for at least another 3 weeks until they are big enough to come home to mummy and daddy. Leaving them and coming home was awful and I have been all over the place emotionally....... but they are in very good hands and I can see them 24/7. It will also give me a chance to recover from the op so I am in top form for when they join us. I cannot describe the love I feel for them both.
xxxxx
