Hi all

Could any Cardiff/South Wales brides recommend a photographer? I've got a meeting booked with one and know of a few myself (but who are way too expensive!) so I'd really appreciate some recommendations :o)

Where are you all off on your honeymoons?

OH and I have finally decided where we're going to jet off to! We've been together nearly 5 years and never had a holiday, so we wanted our honeymoon to be super special (though I'm sure everyone wants that, right?!). I wanted to go somewhere like Bali or Thailand, where H2B wanted to go to Fiji or Hawaii, some kind of paradise island. Neither of which were really options as we've got a pretty tight budget at around £3,500. So, where have we chosen? Why, Mexico of course!

Found a beautiful 5* all-inclusive hotel with swim-up bars, lots of different restaurants, directly leading on to the beach, and we're paying extra for a suite so we have a giant balcony and our own Jacuzzi! So so excited now I want to skip the wedding and just go lol! Unfortunately we can't afford to go straight after the wedding, so we'll be waiting til October 2014. The wait will be worth it!!

So where are you luscious ladies going to be enjoying blissful married life?

Evening buffet

What is everyone having for their buffet at night? We are really struggling with this, our venue has suggested mini fish and chips or mini sausage and mash but I'm just not sure!

Would you mind sharing yours or what you would love at a wedding?

How much are you spending?

I was just wondering how much everyone is spending? And what aspects of your day are costing what?

I had originally thought I would have a small wedding (I only have 4 family members and a few close small group of friends) so thought I cold get married for a few thousand. But as my other half has a large Irish family, and its important to him that they are ALL there, that idea has completely gone down the pan. We are looking at around 10k at the moment, I refuse to go a penny over and am very much hoping we can shave it down to 9! We have booked our ceremony and reception venue and have what I believe to be quite realistic budgets for everything else. We have 79 guests (including ourselves) for the day and rising to around 120 in the evening, this does include around 15 kids.

I find the thought of spending 9-10k on a party just obscene so try not to think about it too much, was just wondering what other people spend and what on?

So, I have 2 years to go, 2 stone to lose, and I haven't bought my wedding dress yet- but yesterday I bought my shoes! I couldnt help it, in my defense they are usually £70 and I got them for a mere (mere?!) £40, so that's how Im justifying it, thankyou very much! They are Irregular Choice Daisy Dayz and I love them more than life :

Hi all, quick q- Ive seen some lovely flowergirl dresses currently on sale, but my wedding's not for two years. My daughters will be 3 1/2 and 8 1/2, and the dresses only come in every two year sizes- so the younger one will be fine in a size 3 to 4 year dress, but the older ones are either size 7 to 8 years or 9 to 10 years... what do you think I should do? My daughter is very slim / athletic build and has always been tall for her age but hasnt had a growth spurt in a while. Which size is easier to alter if need be? Or shall I just hold fire and if they go off sale, so be it? Advice please!

Grooms suits

So the wedding is booked.. 19th Oct 2014 and being super organised I have done practically everything except from buying my dress.

OH wanted to know when should he organise suits? Well when should I organise suits etc and just let him know when to turn up!

One of my maids is very vintage and into everything vintage and my other is very girly/glam/trendy. Any ideas what i could get them?

to say, i've not been around recently as I spend a little to much time on the facebook page , but I think of you all often and remember back to when I first joined hitched and my wedding seemed an age away. I used to wonder how it felt for those brides in single figures to their big day! Well now thats me. 9 days until I marry the love of my life. I am so excited that I don't think I will have room to get nervous. I just know I am going to blub the whole way down the aisle!!

So for now I am signing off as a miss and will come back over to Flashy flashy flash as I know how you all love a good flash

I haven't asked anybody yet but I'm thinking....

my niece (definite)

OH's goddaughter (definite and same age as my niece)

my sister as MOH (kind of thinking I should have a MOH and someone to look after the kids)

My nephew - will be 4 (possible page boy)

My goddaughter - will be 3 1/2 (possible flower girl)

I'm having a civil ceremony, does this seem like too many people? I'm also thinking of doing the american thing of MOH going first, then little ones, then me and dad.

Any opinions welcome!

Hi,

We're due to look around Reid Rooms (near Chelmsford Essex) this Tuesday, it's the first venue that we've looked at. Can anyone suggest questions or things that we should look out for? Or has anyone got married or taken the photos there before and has advise?

Looking at their official photos I'm wondering if it's a little dark inside.

I really want to use festoon lighting both inside and outside but as it's a listed building to they have strict rules about what you can and can't hang up?

Very excited, when I first saw it I was like finally pretty and affordable and all ready to book straight away just to get it over and done with so I'd appreciate it if anyone could let me know of any flaws so I won't rush into anything.

Ok can anyone tell me how long an average line up takes before sitting down for your meal? There will be 70 ish guests.

Also how long is the average sit down wedding breakfast 3 courses and coffee and again for about 70 guests?

and finally how long do the speeches normally take i know it depends on how much they have to say but it will be groom (short!) best men ( fairly short!) and father of groom.

im having major worries whether we will be finished with our meal speeches etc before evening guests arrive at 7pm!!

Well we have been mr & mrs Baldwin for one whole week now and I couldn't be happier!!! our day was perfect but it went too quickly and I wish I could do it all again!!! most things went to plan It DIDNT rain which was a result everyone was well and happy and it was perfect!! il write a proper report later as I don't have time at the mo but wanted to show some pics.

Just a quick post to say my lovely daughter got married on Saturday. It was torrential rain most of the day, and it didn't spoil anything. We got lovely photos in church and her husband carrying her over the puddles. So please don't let the weather spoil your day, enjoy every minute. Don't even think about the weather. xx
