Venue in Sutton Coldfield? help!

andybarc, 31 of July of 2011 at 18:15 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi all,

My fiance and I are looking to marry in Sutton Coldfield some time next summer. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reception venue. We'll be looking at the Abbey in Erdington for the ceremony.

We need to accomodate between 130-150 people. Beyond that, we're not so sure! We are in two minds. Firstly, we could choose a wedding factory and hand over all the organisation to them, but part of us would prefer to hire a simple venue, a big hog roast, a band and produce our own drink. I've seen a great little place called the Cedar field, but that's probably a little too far away.

Any ideas? All thoughts appreciated!

Hi! and welcome to Hitched ?

We are getting married at Moxhull Hall in Sutton, but as I read your post, you may feel it is a 'wedding factory'! But they do hog roast...but then again you can't take your own drink...

Sorry I can't be of more help, didnt want to read and run, but I'm sure there are others on here with more advice/info!

    I am from Solihull myself.

I can't recommend any venues myself, but what about looking into National Trust Property/Big Manor Houses, which maybe you can erect a marquee or something on.

I can recommend two different suppliers though. Firstly, we had a fantastic Hog Roast Company from Sutton Coldfield called Mill House Hog Roast: https://www.millhouseroast.co.uk/

And Secondly, a fantastic photographer who is also a HIB: Nicola at DaffodilWaves is also based in Sutton Coldfield: www.daffodilwaves.co.uk

If you want any other contacts to flowers, caterers, BM's dresses then I'll pass them on if you want xx

    Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies! We looked at Moxhull Hall and really liked it, but it is pretty much booked for the entire year! We didn't fancy the February date available!

It is trickier than I thought just finding a venue! Finding somewhere that doesn't want to make you buy a 3 course meal is tough!
