  • Quick question - DJ costs

Can you please tell me what your DJ is costing so I can get an idea of average costs.

Ours has let us down and I need to find another but I dont know what is reasonable, too cheap and risky again etc

    Thank you xxx

    Hi ya

When I'm planning budgets for clients I usually budget about £350. I really do believe when it comes to disco's you get what you pay for!

    Hi Puddled,

We are paying about 900 for ours, but we found the Dj the 1st wedding fair we went to, and are both quite fussy, as we are both big music buffs, and tbh, cannot stand ropelights and the cheezy style DJ's (sorry)

    Hi there,

I couldn't believe how much they charged as at first our budget was around £350 but then realised we had to up it abit !!

We found a really good company and  they are charging us £500

So £140 is likely to be quite poor quality by the look of these prices!

    Thank youx

  • Re: Quick question - DJ costs

£350. They had a cheaper package but it looked a bit too cheap.

  • Re: Quick question - DJ costs

No not at all,  a few girls on here have found a DJ in that price range, I suppose its depends where you live and what type of DJ you want.

how have you all found them?  I have been looking on the yellow pages website but there dont seem to be many on with websites where I can see if they are dodgy or not  - I am very suspicious after the ones we have had booked

Ours was the hotel's recommended one. They had a website which looked pretty professional. I'm not sure what I'd have done otherwise because I really didn't want DJ Dave complete with flashing lights and dodgy conversation between the songs.

ours is £450 for 4hrs.  found his (pretty decent) website through google but i also spoke to him a few times so have been sufficiently assured that he will be fine.

    Hey Puddled -

Try here - A national association of DJs - a pretty good place to start - quite a selection of them.

We usually recommend as a rule of thumb between £250 - 400 - it IS possible to find good ones in that price bracket.

Damiana - How much!?  I've honestly never heard of a DJ costing that much - what are you getting for that price may I ask?

In any event, make sure that you speak personally to the guy - don't just rely on email - see if they are open to all your requests, wants and concerns and judge their reaction to ALL your questions.

Thanks for that link.  I had just found a website I was looking through of a local DJ who seemed good and they are listed on there too

    Thanks x

  • Re: Quick question - DJ costs

Our DJ is costing £180 as we got a discount by booking at a wedding fayre :) and we asked him to throw in extra things and he agreed :)

Im quickly finding, if you dont ask, you dont get!

  • Re: Quick question - DJ costs

Definitely - ask and you MAY get!

Try offering Cash - they may do you a discount

Try offering to feed them  - they may do you a discount

If your date is quite close - you may find that they'll do you a special rate as they may be trying to fill a hole in the diary.

Same with musicians and other providers such as magicians etc
