Just wondered if there are any others that have LO's still waking in the night at 2 - 3 years?

My DS is improving 'slightly' but still wakes every night and he is 3 at the end of May [eek]

[wave] James (2 and a half) still wakes in the night about 4 nights out of 7. Anything can wake him up - at the moment he hates the rain (as do I[laugh]). I am feeling pretty refreshed today as he has slept through for the last three nights. I know it won't last though.

I'm hoping once he starts nursery in September he will sleep through then...

Tom is 3.5 and still wakes everynight. His 7 year old brother didn't sleep more than 3 hours until he started school and even now only needs about 5 hours[bawl]. I will be so greatful when Tom can entertain himself, we had tests done on Ben and they just decided he didn't need much sleep. Our older 3 could sleep for britain[laugh]

Emily was great as a baby but she's almost 3.5 yrs now and keeps waking at night. It's my fault for being a soft touch and letting her get into bed with us! The other night it was because she'd wet the bed, but most of the time I think she just wants a cuddle.

I must start getting firmer and putting her back in bed!

Zac has just turned 2 and wakes up 2-4 times almost every night. He will go for a few weeks sleeping though then will be hell for a month or two. I've never taken him out of his bedroom when he wakes so i am hoping it is just due to colds / teething etc which he's had loads of since starting nursery even though that was 18 months ago!

    It's hard isn't it[hug]

It's not quite every night any more at 2 3/4...
  • Re: Anyone else's 2 - 3 year olds still wake in night?

On a good night he sleeps til 4-ish then one of us goes in with him and sleeps in his bed til morning. In the last year he has slept through maybe a handful of times.

On a bad night he wakes about 11 just as we have dropped of. we then cosleep with him but some nights he is really restless and doesn't go back to sleep properly.

Zoay I'm so glad to hear things have improved a bit [hug]

The girls (28 months) go through phases. A few weeks ago they were waking between 2 and 8 times a night [bawl]. Now they're back to sleeping through - once they finally go to sleep that is. It's been 10pm most nights recently before they've settled.

Harry was three in February and still wakes most nights, usually once in the evening when he cries and we give him a cuddle, tuck him in and he's fine again. And then usually in the very early hours of the morning when he gets up and tucks himself into our bed. [:I]
Problem is I'm pregnant and space is lacking in our bed, so this has to stop, but I'm usually so tired to move. I'm a heavy sleeper too, hence and don't always notice he's crept in.
Not sure what else to say, but wanted to let you know you're not alone. [hug]
Oh and if anyone could advise me on how to get my toddler to stay in bed that would be great! [laugh][thanks]

We got (after being up for 14 hours) 8pm until 4.20am last night. Ridiculous, isn't it? now she'll probably melt down at some point today and be too tired for swimming.

But - the good news - she turned on Maisy herself and played quietly in her room and didn't come in for us - yay!
  • Re: Anyone else's 2 - 3 year olds still wake in night?

Amy (3) wakes most nights these days (at least 5 nights in a week). She only started at 2 and a half - but she just wakes up around 4am/5am and talks to herself and her teddies then dozes back to sleep. We're not sure if it is sleep talking or if she just isn't sure when morning is - but if she wakes herself up too much she can be chatting away loudily for over an hour! She doesn't call us or get out of bed but she is definately not sleeping. If she slept through she'd get 13hours.

We are gonig to buy a bunny clock or similar to help her to know when it is morning just in case it will help.

Sophie (29m) wakes up every night to ask to come into my bed (and more recently to 'have a wee on the toilet, mummy'

I'm not ready to stop her coming in my bed, and I think she thinks everyone wakes up to do this.

We are all happy with this, although it does make me tired.

Grace's pattern is 7-12 then she wakes, I goin in turn her music back on and she sleeps til 5. At 5 she comes in with us until 6.30.

Not sure if she'll ever grow out of it-but it's loads better than it was so I'm not complaining.

Evie did when we first potty trained her, but now she's going through again.

Has it just started or has it been constant?

    Hiya

Sorry I didn't log back on yesterday so have only just read your replies...thanks.

It has been a regular thing to be honest....he did start sleeping through at around 5 months then he got bronchiolitis and it went tit$ up from there!!!

I know it is my own fault because we don't persevere and just let him in our bed when he wakes. Mainly because we are that tired and zonked out we don't really know what we are doing at 2 o'clock in the mornings!!!

He has only slept through in his own bed a handful of times. I really must learn to be firm and stick to it.

Thanks again for your replies, at least I know I am not alone!!!

    [thanks]
