I think i am going to do a star chart for when we potty train Z after xmas. But im not sure what they look like or what should be on them.

What are yours like? Any star chart tips???

    cheers!

First one was just a plain piece of paper and he got a smilie face drawn on for each wee on the potty... so daddy could see how clever he was!

Second one needed 3 then 5 smilie faces to get a chocolate button.

Third one had had a row of 5 pairs of pants on it then a chocolate button... he needed 5 pairs of dry pants (although we went back down to 3!!!) to get the chocolate button - he coloured a pair of pants in for each wee!

advice... small steps... you can always build it up later when your LO is getting used to things. It means they feel like they are achieving from the beginning!

I bought one for £6 from ELC a couple of weeks ago.  It has a wipe clean surface so that you can write on each line what the stars are for.  The stars are magnetic and it comes with a pen to write on it.

We've just potty trained Tyler and used a sticker chart.  Alll I did was write each day (for a week) with lines so it looked like this:

    mon

    ________________________________________________________

    tues

    _______________________________________________________

    etc....

He then got a sticker for every wee or poo in the potty, he also got a circle around the sticker if it was a poo ( more to help me remember)  For the first few days i also kept a seperate chart for myself which tracked accidents but he didn't know about this one.  It helped me to know how many accidents were on the way to the potty adn things like that.

I got lots of different stickers which he got to choose from each time and made a big fuss of it. We also had a song we sang about him being a super star Embarrassed  We're now into week three and we've slowly stopped rewarding for everything.  But if he asks for a sticker then he still gets one and we still always sing the song.  I just didn't want it to continue to be reward focused if that makes sense.

    Good luck!
