  • PS3 question

Can you play PS2 games on a PS3? I've googled but the results seem inconclusive.

    Fankooo [thanks]

Yes, the majority of PS2 games can be.There are certain ones that may have some issues but mostly they run fine. You can play PS1 on it too.
  • Re: PS3 question

    The 40 gig...no.

The 60 and 80 gig more than a 1000 titles do work, some older ones do not.

Oh gosh, yes I forgot the 40gb isn't backward compatible.
If you've got the old one this here is useful:

Depends on which version you have. Not all of them are backwards compatible. H has a 40 GB one which isn't, the 80 Gb one is. I think all of the 1st generation PS3's were backwards compatible.

According to H some PS2 games will play on his PS3 though but he doesn't see the point of trying it - just keep the PS2 if you love those games.

Are the red marks showing the ones that are compatible?

    It's a 40g, I didn't know there were better ones <sigh> [V]
  • Re: PS3 question

Officially no PS2 games will work on a 40 gig PS3. That seems to be a list compiling the results that different people have had with different games.

If it has 4 or 5 red faces it should be ok.3 faces has some issues, and below that has big problems.
Unfortunately you can only buy the 40gb one now, the original one was 60gb and backwards compatible.
The new 80gb model will only launch in Korea initially.

Thanks, Dan, Sare, and everyone else [thanks]

We're trying to set it up here but it's so confusing. Poor, simple, Hole [rotfl]

Ok, next question. What's a WPA key? We put in our WEP key but now it's asking for a WPA key [rotfl]

I've cheated to save typing but:

The WPA key is a method of securing wireless networks. This setting is not dependent on your PS3 but rather your wireless router. If you do not use a wireless router then this setting does not apply to you.

You will need to log into your router settings. This is most often accomplished by going to a PC connected directly to the router and entering the routers IP address in a internet browser. This is typically 192.168.2.1(The last two digits often vary depending on brand).

In the security settings there should be a WPA key setting. If this is blank then your wireless internet is unprotected. If this is set, then you will need to enter the corresponding key into your PS3 to obtain access to the network.

Or H says you can just phone your ISP and ask them.

Once you're finally set up, have a look at the advert for HOME which is coming soon.It looks amazing.

It's going to be a virtual world where everyone online meets up.
You design yourself and choose what you wear.
You can chat to people, and design a house and decorate and furnish it.
You'll be able to invite people back to your house and you can all sit and chat, or you can put a movie or song from your pc onto a virtual screen so you can watch it together.
There's lots more to come but there's no definite relase date yet.
