Got back together after a 33 year or so break in Jan 2008. Got engaged (formally) in Sept 2013 - 5 years 8 months. Wedding 8 April 2015 so a further 1 year 7 months meaning we'd been an item for a total of 7 years and 3 months exactly

We had been together for 6.5 years when OH proposed and then 18 months to plans the wedding.

Though I've got an 8 month engagement, everything was sorted by 4 months, i'm not bored waiting for my dress to arrive in June and the wedding in September.

12-18 months seems to be a fairly common length of engagement/planning.

We've been engaged for as long as it took to get this sorted, we didnt start out with a date but knew my dress would take the longest so we worked out how long the dress would take then set the date.

my h2b would confirm I have very little patience and I like to do things yesterday and I hate having too much booked up in my diary, so planning a wedding over 8 months has been hard.

We'd been friends for about a year before we got together, and had been together for exactly 16 months when we got engaged.

I'm similar, we have 7 months between engagement and wedding and now with 3 months to go, even though not everything is 100% sorted, I am feeling a bit like, really? I have to wait another three months? I am so glad our engagement is relatively short, I don't think I would have had the patience to plan a wedding over 12+ months.

Oh proposed on our two year anniversary and we will have been engaged 2 years 11 months and 19 days by the time we get married. So nearly 5 years together.

We've had such a long engagement because we wanted to save to buy our own house first and then save for the wedding.
