  • Keeping your look secret

Who else is finding it strange keeping  your dress and everything to do with it secret from your OH? I just find it strange as tell him everything normally. my mum has been down and we've been getting bits and pieces for the wedding. and want to tell him mum and I ordered our shoes but can't. I'm glad i have the forum to talk about any  purchases (i also bought my shawl and birdcage veil this weekend as well. mum has taken everything up in a suitcase back home so Oh can't accidently discover anything)

    First date 22 july 2009

    Proposal 3 july 2011

wedding date 13 July 2013. July is an eventful month

I'm not keeping anything hidden from my OH. I'd quite happily show him the dress if he wanted to see it, but he say's he doesn't. He knows the designer and name of the dress though so may well have googled it.

He's seen my shoes and my hair comb as I did both of those myself so he's seen me twiddling away making those. I even made him model the hair comb when it was finished so I could take a photo! He's seen earrings too. He'll have forgotten it all the time the wedding comes around and he's never seen the whole look together, so i'm not really bothered.

The thought of having to keep everything hidden or secret is a bit too much fuss for me, I don't know how anyone manages it!

Wedding photographer and pug obsessed bride to be!

I hate all the secrets. My OH is really insistent on not knowing anything, he's really looking forward to the surprise, but I hate keeping quiet! I also hate not knowing what all the speeches are going to be (my dad, OH, best man's), any details of my hen do....I'm not good with surprises....they just make me feel anxious & sick!

My OH knows what I've bought so far, but hasnt seen any of them. Its the only way I've managed. He knows the prices of most too, as I'll be sitting here umming and uhhing whether I should spent X amount on this and that, and ask him for opinions (usually they dont help, but it gets it out of my head so I can think more logically about it).

If I need an opinion on the look of something, I'll email it my mum or MOH for opinions

Ahhh I found this part quite easy as I couldn't wait to see his face when I walked down the aisle.

I worry that he will hate the dress I pick. It's annoying cos he won't even offer opinions on random dresses online that I won't even be trying on or even sketches of dress shapes.

I keep saying its fine. I'll just wear jeans then ;) or he has to say he loves the dress even if he hates it!

Only my gran and mum have seen my dress and its murder trying to keep it secret especially when a girl on my fb recently got married in the same dress [:'(]

I have been messing around when we watch dont tell the bride saying every dress looks like mine just to throw him off but the one dress that actully did resemble mine was the one he said oh i hope it doesnt look like that its far too big! Which is why im having serious second thoughts about mine!

My OH came dress shopping with me, I never thought to keep it secret, lol. I don't live in the same area as family/bridesmaids so he's who I'm discussing all the decisions with. Also, my daughter was 10 weeks old at the time so needed him to look after her while I was trying the dresses on!

I kept my dress a secret, but I showed my Hubby my shoes, bouquet, umbrella and tiara.x

I find watching Don't tell the Bride difficult  as I want to comment on the dress but can't as don't want to let on about anything. I almost thought I was rumbled for a second when  he said he thought i might be wearing something retro and classic " but I think he just sort of knows my style. I

Again the band we are looking to book are a rockn roll band andI found it difficult saying the band would match my wedding dress style (tea length )

My mum bridesmaids FMIL and a friend i took dress shopping have seen my dress. i don't want him to see anything at al before the big day.

    My fella is the same.

I was showing him some photos on my phone and had left a hairstyle that I like and quickly flicked off it but he said he liked it so that made me feel better as normally we talk about most things and I am always asking his opinion on stuff so it seems strange not doing that.

I didn't keep anything secret because it felt strange.i never even really thought about it until we went wedding dress shopping together and the shop ladies asked if I was worried about the bad luck of OH seeing my dress! I didn't care as we always do everything together, and he is great to shop with. Why make such a big decision as what to wear on your wedding day without your best friend by your side?

I know exactly what you mean! The oh and I discuss everything and its very strange not asking his opinion on my dress. I'm fairly sure he'll like it but you never know. Its such a major purchase too and has a massive impact on the 'look' of the day. I'm not showing him my veil either but I dont mind him seeing thr shoes or hair clips. I'm doing the same as a few others on here and when he asks if a dress on telly looks like mine, I always say yes - the more hideous the better.

He doesn't ask me anything but passes judgment on other peoples dresses with no thought to what mine might be like!

He saw a lace dress and said it looked like a pair of old curtains - my dress is lace! Arr well he will have forgot by next year!

OH has seen some things... both pairs of shoes... the jewellry (as my Mum got it for being my auntie's bridesmaid) but he doesn't want to see the dress... Mam-in-law did expect it to be kept at her house, but I now have custody and I know if he peeked it'd be him he's cheating, not me... And I do have one surprise... There's a brooch on my dress that's being replaced by a brooch that was his Gran's and looks perfect with the dress... He knows I like these sentimental things, but then again, it was his suggestion I wear odd socks on the day because that's typically me!
