I still can’t quite believe that my day has come and gone.
We had the most amazing day ever, so I thought I would share it with you all.
Background
We met in 2007 in a
local bar through friends of friends, we both admit that we knew instantly that
we were made for each other. We were completely inseparable that night we met,
and it felt like we were the only people on this earth, it was amazing and
still is to this day! We have had a lot of heartache however since we met, with
me loosing my dad to cancer, me being seriously ill and spending a lot of time
is hospital, redundancies, money troubles and OH’s mom having breast cancer.
However, don't feel depressed it definitely gets better! All of this has all made us as strong as we are today.
The days before
The run up to our wedding was quite stressful, OH had had to work away for the last 3 weeks prior to the wedding which we were not
happy about, but needs must. So it was all left to me to clarify last minute
details etc. Well I say last minute details, I was in fact STILL trying to
clarify final menu’s numbers and COSTS with our highly unorganised venue. Every
day was another battle with them, to the point where I rang my mom the week
before the wedding and told her I wanted to change venue as they were so very
unhelpful, uncaring and really not considerate of the most important day of my
life! Anyway, lots of e-mails and phone calls later we finally managed to
finalise details, which allowed me to relax a little.
I had to work up until the Wednesday of the wedding week,
but OH had returned from working away by now, so I set him to work with his
endless list of tasks. My last day at work was so manic I actually lost sight
of what I was actually going to be off for. I work for a promotional products
company and had been asking my boss for weeks if we could print me some canvas
bags for my BM’s and mom, and finally on my last day at 4.30pm he asked me to
get them out and we set to work.
On the Thursday morning my nail lady came over to do me, mom
and both my sisters nails. We had a lovely morning, but it still didn’t feel
real. OH left me to go to his parents to continue building the post box. He is
a carpenter and was building me a replica white royal mail box (you will see
from the pics later on that he did not listen LOL, although it looked
beautiful).
We did some last minute shopping that afternoon for bits and
pieces for our mini-moon. I then had an appointment for my last facial, which
was lovely and so relaxing. That night we chilled out together and had a nice
meal, knowing that the next day would be quite hectic.
We had a bit of a lie in on the Friday morning in
preparation and enjoyed a snuggle in bed as our last day as single people. OH
then went to his parents to finish the post box and shortly arrived back with
this............

I was stunned, although not what I had asked for it was
beautiful and bought a little tear to my eye.
We then rang the venue around 11.30am, as we should have
been there around 11am to set everything up for our big day. SHOCKED was an
understatement, the owner of our venue answered and told me to be there by
12.30pm as the wedding taking place that day would be there then??!!??? I had
NO idea there was a wedding that day, they had completely ignored to tell us
this fact, yet we had planned for months to go the day before to set up. I was
fuming but tried not to stress too much. OH (who never gets angry) picked up
the phone to ask them what the hell they were playing at, and ended up saying
he would be there at 9am the next morning to set up (His wedding day), we were
fuming, but after everything else we had had to deal with from our venue we
should have expected it really. Anyway, we tried to carry on as best as we
could and I had to tell OH how to set everything up and put labels on
everything with instructions. Later on with the car finally filled to the brim with our
wedding OH dropped me at my mom’s and then he went of to his parents. Me and
mom had planned to just have a night the 2 of us as both my sisters have small
children so couldn't stay over, so we had fish and chips for tea and then sat
and had a very relaxed chat. But by around 9pm I was falling asleep, I think
the last few weeks had caught up with me, and instead of being so excited I was
exhausted. I lasted till around 10 but when I went to go to bed I realised I
had left my contact lens solution at home and I had no spare lenses with me
arhhgggggg......we had to jump in the car and make a dash home to get some,
which luckily is only 5 minutes away. By the time I got to bed my head hit the
pillow I was gone.
