I still can’t quite believe that my day has come and gone. We had the most amazing day ever, so I thought I would share it with you all.

    Background

We met in 2007 in a local bar through friends of friends, we both admit that we knew instantly that we were made for each other. We were completely inseparable that night we met, and it felt like we were the only people on this earth, it was amazing and still is to this day! We have had a lot of heartache however since we met, with me loosing my dad to cancer, me being seriously ill and spending a lot of time is hospital, redundancies, money troubles and OH’s mom having breast cancer. However, don't feel depressed it definitely gets better! All of this has all made us as strong as we are today.

    The days before

The run up to our wedding was quite stressful, OH had had to work away for the last 3 weeks prior to the wedding which we were not happy about, but needs must. So it was all left to me to clarify last minute details etc. Well I say last minute details, I was in fact STILL trying to clarify final menu’s numbers and COSTS with our highly unorganised venue. Every day was another battle with them, to the point where I rang my mom the week before the wedding and told her I wanted to change venue as they were so very unhelpful, uncaring and really not considerate of the most important day of my life! Anyway, lots of e-mails and phone calls later we finally managed to finalise details, which allowed me to relax a little.

I had to work up until the Wednesday of the wedding week, but OH had returned from working away by now, so I set him to work with his endless list of tasks. My last day at work was so manic I actually lost sight of what I was actually going to be off for. I work for a promotional products company and had been asking my boss for weeks if we could print me some canvas bags for my BM’s and mom, and finally on my last day at 4.30pm he asked me to get them out and we set to work.

On the Thursday morning my nail lady came over to do me, mom and both my sisters nails. We had a lovely morning, but it still didn’t feel real. OH left me to go to his parents to continue building the post box. He is a carpenter and was building me a replica white royal mail box (you will see from the pics later on that he did not listen LOL, although it looked beautiful).

We did some last minute shopping that afternoon for bits and pieces for our mini-moon. I then had an appointment for my last facial, which was lovely and so relaxing. That night we chilled out together and had a nice meal, knowing that the next day would be quite hectic.

We had a bit of a lie in on the Friday morning in preparation and enjoyed a snuggle in bed as our last day as single people. OH then went to his parents to finish the post box and shortly arrived back with this............

I was stunned, although not what I had asked for it was beautiful and bought a little tear to my eye.

We then rang the venue around 11.30am, as we should have been there around 11am to set everything up for our big day. SHOCKED was an understatement, the owner of our venue answered and told me to be there by 12.30pm as the wedding taking place that day would be there then??!!??? I had NO idea there was a wedding that day, they had completely ignored to tell us this fact, yet we had planned for months to go the day before to set up. I was fuming but tried not to stress too much. OH (who never gets angry) picked up the phone to ask them what the hell they were playing at, and ended up saying he would be there at 9am the next morning to set up (His wedding day), we were fuming, but after everything else we had had to deal with from our venue we should have expected it really. Anyway, we tried to carry on as best as we could and I had to tell OH how to set everything up and put labels on everything with instructions. Later on with the car finally filled to the brim with our wedding OH dropped me at my mom’s and then he went of to his parents. Me and mom had planned to just have a night the 2 of us as both my sisters have small children so couldn't stay over, so we had fish and chips for tea and then sat and had a very relaxed chat. But by around 9pm I was falling asleep, I think the last few weeks had caught up with me, and instead of being so excited I was exhausted. I lasted till around 10 but when I went to go to bed I realised I had left my contact lens solution at home and I had no spare lenses with me arhhgggggg......we had to jump in the car and make a dash home to get some, which luckily is only 5 minutes away. By the time I got to bed my head hit the pillow I was gone.

    OOOH so far so good.....

  • Re: **** Mrs Amor to be Wedding Report 22/09/2012 ****

MY wedding day!!!!! I woke up at 6.30am and me and mom sat in bed having a cuppa and a chat. I said to mom it felt like we were doing all this for someone else not for me. It really didn’t feel real still. By 7.45am by 3 BM’s had arrived followed by my hair lady. I gave everyone their personalised bags with their gifts in and they were all overwhelmed, I had written them a little poem each too, so there were a few tears.

The morning actually went pretty smooth. The hair lady set to work with the BM’s hair while I was milling around answering text etc. I didn’t really know what to do with myself at this point. Everyone kept saying how calm I was, but it still didn’t feel like my wedding day!!!! That was until I sat down to have my hair done, and my BM saw the look on my face and laughed as she realised it had just hit me. My only worry all morning had been for my OH, as I was worrying that he might be getting stressed having to set everything up. I knew he would want it perfect for me, so my BM checked in with him and made sure he was o.k. His response was “I am on top of the world” so I was then very happy.

Before I knew it my hair and makeup was done and it was time to put my dress on.

Now this was the first and only (I think) Bridezilla moment I had, but as soon as I looked in the mirror my dress just didn’t look right. It wasn’t sitting right around the bottom of the hoop, and I had a major bridezilla fit. My BM’s and mom then all rallied around me with hands up by back and all sorts trying to work out what had happened to my dress. Eventually we fixed it and it looked better.......phew.

I looked out of the front door and the cars had arrived, they looked lovely, 2 silver Bentley’s glistening in the sun, and there was people everywhere outside with camera’s waiting. “OMG they were there to see me” wow, this was it.

My BM’s dad told me and mom to stay inside as he wanted pics of the BMs before us. He was brilliant and got some lovely pictures. I hadn't wanted a photographer there getting in the way that morning, but I was glad he was outside waiting for us, and captured these moments I hadn't thought of.

The journey to the venue was very calm, me and mom just sat in the car chatting all the way.

When we got the venue I just couldn’t wait to see OH. I was given a lovely card from him by the registrar which nearly made me cry but I held back.

My BM’s and pageboys entered the room and then me and mom were given the nod. This was it, I was so excited. I had remembered people telling me to take everything in so I tried to look quickly at all the guests and then I saw OH and no one else mattered, wow he was beaming and so was I. When I reached him I gave him a little nudge and we both couldn’t stop smiling.

We have both said that we were not as nervous as we expected to be, more excited than nervous. Although I did stumble on a sentence of my personal declaration but I don’t think anyone noticed too much.

We were then ushered out of the ceremony and given a drink (thank god), we had pictures taken and greeted all of our guests.

After many flashes in my face and the sun beating on me, my head started to hurt and I couldn’t believe it......................a migraine! on my wedding daySad someone ran over and gave me some painkillers, I was determined this wouldn’t ruin my day and by the time we sat down for the wedding breakfast it had calmed down.

Me and OH just looked at each other and couldn’t believe all these people were here for us! Wow we felt amazing. We started with the speeches which were lovely. None of them are very good at public speaking so the speeches were short and sweet. We presented our little pageboys with the silver money boxes, which they loved, and I later saw people putting money into them. The next day they had £’s from the guests bless them. I obviously reminded them who’s wedding it was LOL.

The cakepop favours went down a treat and the food was amazing, although I couldn’t eat a lot I was sitting trying to take the day in. Our cake was overwhelming too, this picture does it no justice as you can't see all of the detail.

OH had bought our video camera, so I was sneakily filming people from the top table which has been lovely to look back at as it is what we saw!

The day really did go so fast, when we came out of the wedding breakfast room we literally had one more drink and the evening guests were arriving. STOP...... The day was going too fast! I remembered lots of people saying to us to grab a moment together, so I grabbed OH and took him outside. We stood talking and having a cuddle but then a taxi full of his mates pulled up and the moment was ruined LOL.

I spent the evening trying to say hello to everyone I saw, but there was so many people it was difficult. My head was also hurting even more now, I took some more painkillers and tried to ignore it.

I was soon being told it was time for our first dance, “Lucky” by Jason Mraz. We love that song and I think you could tell when we were dancing as it really felt that no one else was in the room! Our DJ was also videoing parts of the evening and I kept catching him walking around getting messages from people (I can’t wait for the full length video) But if anyone is interested here is a snippet that has been produced.

http://www.vibe-entertainment.co.uk/septemberwedding12.html If anyone is in the West Midlands and looking for a DJ I highly recommend this company they were brilliant and I have had so many great comments about them.

The party then got into full swing, and at one point I was told the best man had just swung my mom around the room and they were dancing the night away. Every time I went into the disco room the floor was full of people dancing like loons it was great!

That is about it really the evening flew by and we sat back at the end of the night as people were leaving. We were gutted it was over but my head was still pounding and I wanted to go to bed, BUT I really didn’t want the day to end or to have to take my dress off. But people were leaving and we couldn’t stay there all night.

It is so right what people say you really do need to take 5 a few times throughout the day to take it all in! I would give anything to do it all again!

Thanks for reading and good luck to all of you future brides! Big Smile
