How long before the wedding did you buy BM dresses??

Hi,

I've seen some BM dresses on the high street that I think would be great but my wedding isn't until next year.  Two ppl who I know that are getting married the same month as me already have their BM dresses.  I am debating the huge savings I get by matching my colour in a high street shop vs from a wedding shop (where dresses seem a lot more expensive), and then the chance that my BM's weight might fluctuate etc between now and next year.  WWYD? And for those that already have your BM dresses when did you get them? Thanks for your help x

PS should add I really like the dress and a rare dress that suits my BMs!

If you like them, get them. I found ones I loved and bought them 22 months before the wedding. We shall wait and see what happens as wedding is not until next October!

If you like them go for it, mine were £35 off ebay and they are perfect! even if i have to get them altered for my BM's weight changing a bit it will still be cheap

if you like them buy them, i bought mines a year before my wedding which is in 7 weeks time however iv just found out my bridesmaid is 4 months pregnant and now the dress doesnt fit so b careful

My bridesmaids dresses were the first thing I bought, I saw them in Debenhams 14 months before the wedding, loved them, got the girls in to try them on and bought them there and then. If you love them go for it! My only problem was I fell out with my MOH and didn't have her in the end, so ended up £100 down as it was too late for a refund but in the grand scheme of things it didn't matter too much.

I actually bought mine before I was even engaged. Yes I know how ridiculous this sounds.

Basically I knew who my BM's would be, and I had an idea of the style I wanted. I was on the Debenhams website and the exact dresses were reduced from £120 to £36 each. When an email popped up with a 10% off code, I thought s0d it, and bought them. I had an idea the proposal was on the cards (we were off on a Hols of a lifetime and he'd taken a day off to spend 'gardening' with my dad).

If they lose or gain weight, get pregnant or whatever, it's not as if I'll have lost a lot of money. 

I did tell him the story, he loved it.

I have to wait until after Christmas as both my BM's have babies due in October/November. That gives me 9 months which I think is doable...

Im buying mine at the end of the month, my wedding is in November. Im glad I have left it as one of my B.M's is now pregnant so her dress would have not fit her if I had brought it earlier.

I'm getting married next March, I already have my bm dresses and they were one of the first things I bought. Someone on here linked to them and they were perfect plus in the sale at Debenhams so i bought!

If you like them buy them, just make sure you have some spare budget just in case.

I bought mine from a bridal shop in January they arrived in May in between two of my bridesmaids tell me they're preganant will be 5 months and 8 months on te day, shop ordered extra material and are altering them both for me, cheaper than buying more dresses.

We left ours til last minute for unforseen reasons.  They take 16 weeks to come in and we ordered them with 19 weeks to go.  This obviously means I still don't have them and although I'm not losing sleep, it does cross my mind occasionally.  I would say, if you know what you want and everyone's happy, get them.  Then the only thing you'll have to think about is weight fluctuations between now and then.

The shop that I am getting mine from told me to take my girls in to try and order at christmas for our mid August wedding, as the styles may change and also because one of my bridesmaids is my future step daughter who os 12 and changing shape and height by the minute. That said if I had seen the perfect dresses for a fraction of the price I would probably take the risk and get them and beg my girls not to grow/shrink/have a baby.

My wedding is August next year and I've just bought my BM dress, only because it's an end of line one and it was 60% off - perfect colour and perfect style!  It was a bit too big but even with the alteration cost it's still costing around 50% less than the full price.  Thankfully, it's unlikely that my BM will end up pregnant before my wedding, as she is getting married a month before me.
