  • Favour Buckets/Pails or something similar

    Morning everyone,

I am trying to get hold of around 80 mini favour buckets/pails to give at ouir wedding with some grown herbs in.

Does anyone know the cheapest place to get hold of these at all? or any other alternatives that we can grow seeds in to give to our guests

    Thanks

    Lisa

Does it have to be a favour bucket?  What about these? Add a coloured ribbon around the top & add a favour tag to the ribbon?

You could also try 99p store, Q stores, ebay, amazon etc.  Dont forget that a bucket wont have holes in the bottom for the plant to drain!

I did exactly this for my favours, bought the pails second hand from someone off here. Grew chilli plants and herbs. The plants were fine without drainage.

If you didnt want to grow everything from seed, I found basil is easy to grow from a cutting.  I bought a bunch from the market recently to cook with & put it in a cup of water to keep fresh.  To my surprise, it kept for weeks & when I looked, had grown roots! I planted the 3 sprigs that were left & they have now turned into 3 large basil bushes.

You may find this also works for mint, rosemary & sage.

I'm going to do this! Herbs for adults, strawberry plants for children :)

    I think i'm going for http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/garden-d-cor/pots-planters/external_pots/-specificproducttype-terracotta_pots/Flower-Pot-9cm-9298001

50p each, and when I went to the store, they had mini saucers for about 20p. hth

Thanks for all the advice - off to B&Q to see what i can find!

Before you go, they also have wooden plant stakes. was going to write guest names on one side, plant names on the other

  • Re: Favour Buckets/Pails or something similar

ooo interested in this one, just decided to go for a herb theme- different herbs for each table, piled in a big pot in the middle as a centrepiece... name the table after them and also have a recipe for a dish which uses the particular herb perhaps on the back on the table number label... all a bit of an idea in action!

So...question is.. how long does it take to grow herbs from seed and since our wedding isn't until october is it a bit of a daft idea in terms of things growing... not got particularly green fingers!

    Thanks!
