VOG question for OM's

Im having difficulty deciding if I want a vog or not. Part of me says we are paying so much for the wedding that we want something to remember it (as well as photos) and that it will go by so quick we'll forget parts of the day, especially the speeches. The other part says that we'll probably only watch it once. My mum says she cant ever imagine wanting sit and watch her wedding DVD (she didnt have one) and thinks it would be a waste of money. If money was no object Id get one but we are on a very tight budget. 

So OM's - did you have a vog and if so, do you watch the DVD very much? Was it worth it? And if you didnt have one, do you regret it?

We didnt have a professional VOG but I did get my cousin to video people arriving, the ceremony, speeches, cake cutting and first dance.  I am so glad I did. 

I'm not an OM (yet!) but I am already really glad we got a VOG as like you say the day will fly by and there will be loads of things we don't see or remember so will be nice to look back on it all though. We did set ourselves a budget though and wouldn't pay over X amount for one.

I'm not an OM either but my OH was very keen on getting a VOG. His Mum was quite keen on it too. I didn't want one at all until they started talking about "showing the kids" etc and one of my grandmothers can't attend as she's in a home so getting a video will mean she can watch it when I go see her and feel more part of it. I hope. Plus I am a bit sentimental and will probably like it once I see it. Just hoping I get to choose the music cos the demos we were sent were an absolute cheese fest.

We had a 5minute trailer video and a full length one (works out about an hour or so) with the entire ceremony and all the speeches.

I watch the trailer all the time, and have watched the full length video about 3 times in the last year.

Not an OM but I have also gone back and forth on this question too.

Ultimatley though I'd rather waste a few quid on a dvd I never watch than regret not having one at all. Like photos, you simply cannot recreate those moments.

Its something i personally would look into getting. My first wedding many moons ago was filmed by friends and family, its wasn't really the done thing then to have a VOG, but i watched the bits and peices they filmed all the time (on VHS!!) I think this time round i would certainly TRY and budget it in, if it worked out to expensive then i would make sure friends and family have a camcorder to hand to get the important bits. Because, as you know, it will fly by, and you want to savour and remember every element!

Ive found one I like for only £450 for the whole day and I was about to pay the deposit when I had to use it to buy a new laptop instead...just reminded me how little money we have, then my mum said what she did and its put doubts in my mind. Think you have convinced me to go for it though, like someone said id rather waste the money than have regrets.
