    Country Pub in Cheshire

    Hi All,

This is my first post! I've just started to plan our wedding and was wondering if anyone had any reccommendations for a country pub, somewhere in Cheshire, preferably not too far from Manchester? We are looking to have about 100/120 guests for whole day, with more in the evening. We only need the pub for the reception as are going to get married in Manchester somewhere.

    Any suggestions would be helpful!!

    Thanks!!

    Emma

Have you a more specific area? Cheshire is a big place.

Near Manchester, probably within about 25-30 miles.

    Thanks.

The Alma Inn in Colne is nice, as is the Swettenham Arms in Congleton.

The Plough at Eaton, Congleton looks nice as does The Stags Head, Great Warford.

    Happy hunting.

The fox and barrel in tarporley is nice, although I've only been there for Sunday lunch.

    Re: Country Pub in Cheshire

Hi, we have been looking at country pubs in this sort of area and I have to say you will struggle to get 120 people all in one area in a 'pub' the tend to have a few separate areas that can be used combined...is this something you would do? This is what put us off most places! If not what is your budget? As it is possible to hire marquees in pub grounds...and use this combined with the inside...

The ones I can think that are most suitable are:

. The windmill inn, Whitley green (we are considering here)

. The dun Cow knutsford (marquee will be needed for your numbers)

. The stags head, great warford (again marquee would be needed, lovely gardens)

I would be suprised if you found a pub that will do a sit down for 120 all in the same area e.g so you can see everyone! The windmill inn is the only place we have found up to now but we are having 80 day and 150 evening

    Good luck! X

    *porsche*:

    the Swettenham Arms in Congleton.

I second this. There's a nice lavender field at the back for photos if you pick the time of year right.
