  • Brides in the Berkshire area please recommend me a bridal store

I have decided it is time to start looking for the dress but I am a bit nervous. I tried on two dresses at the national wedding fair last year. The first one I really liked and the woman was really nice and made a fuss of me. The second one was like a cattlemarket, I was put behind a curtain with five other women and the woman helping me asked if I was pregnant. I was not. So I was hoping you ladies could recommend me some places you have had good experiences?

Eton brides in erm Eton was lovely! Not a cattlemarket at all and if I wasn't taking the piss by trying their dresses on for ideas with my dressmaker I would have seriously considered buying from them!!!

Bride to be were very helpful for both me and my sister

Also Confetti in Wokingham were, one in Ascot that I can't remember the name of but it was behind the station and was called something like Wedding Warehouse (but wasn't at all warehouse like!!)

Got mine from The Bridal Centre in Farnborough who could not have been more helpful and lovely - but not as posh as some of the others - depends what you're looking for.

I don't have any experience myself yet, but I've only heard good things about Mamfii nr Guildford and Ellie Sanderson in Beaconsfield. I'm pretty sure they both have just one appointment at a time. I also popped in to the Bridal Centre in Farnborough without an appointment to ask about a dress in the window. The woman seemed very nice and welcoming, but the shop looks less boutique-y than the others I've suggested. Does this make a difference to dress prices?

Not counting the days to 14th June 2013 out of denial - I'm going for the least-organised hitcher award Laugh

I didnt have that great experience at 'Bride to be' to be honest.  I popped in to make an appointment and the lady said I could try on some dresses as they were free and despite me not wanting a huge dress she insisted on me trying on a big poofy thing and telling me 'it was the one' and therefore I wasnt allowed to try on any others.  All a bit random.

Perfection bridal has some nice dresses, reasonably priced but a saturday appointment is a bit like a cattle market.  You only get an hour and you have to put coloured tag on dresses you like then you are put in them one by one with the girl asking if you like this more or less than the previous one.

I had to buy my dress in Bucks as I fell in love with one online and they were the nearest stockists but my alterations were done locally by the lady that does them for Berkshire Brides.  Some of the dresses I saw at her house were stunning.  I do wish I had gone there as well.

I can definitely recommend Confetti Bridal Centre in Wokingham (about 5 mins away from our beautiful wedding venue Easthampstead Park actually :)  )

So much choice and the ladies are all lovely - if you want a quieter appointment I would say through the week or first thing in the morning :)

I'm soon to begin the process and will be looking in Berkshire as that's where ma bubble lives.

My best friend got her dress from Supernova in Datchet and they had some fab dresses. We also looked at what was the Ivory Lounge in Iver Heath but is now called Elizabeth Mcqeen.

The Wedding Warehouse in Ascot is where another friend got her dress from and she said they were fab.

Let's do it. Let's go get the sh*t kicked out of us by love.
