  • Opinions please!

    Hi Everyone.

All our guests will need to have accommodation for at least the night of our wedding and some have said they would like to make a weekend of it, so our venue has held a number of discounted rooms for us until 30 days previous to our date and I'm hoping to get a further discount for those wishing to stay more than 1 night. They have given us a reference for our guests to book with this discount and each reservation needs a deposit of £50 per room.

Tonight we(I) have started to design our save the date postcards and we feel it is best to give our guests as much notice about the discounted room reservations as possible so they can spread the cost if this would make things easier for them, so thought it best to include some information regarding it with the save the date. But we aren't sure if this information would be best on the reverse of our STD postcards or on a separate piece of paper inside the envelope.

Wording is also a problem as we don't want people to feel they NEED to make their reservation this far in advance either ! so any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    So do we -

    1) leave it out the STD cards completely?

    2) Have the information on the reverse of STD?

    3) include it on separate paper?

Our STDs confirms formal invitations are to follow so what would you think if this information was to be included in them?

    Thanks in advance

    L x

P.S. OH doesn't want to use a wedding planning website so this option is out. Hmm

I think, depending on the size of the STDs, a note on the back should be fine. Maybe just a mention with the room cost and 'booking deadline' for the discount, saying more info to follow with invitations, but provide your or the venue contact details in case guests want to find out more/ start booking sooner.

    Something along the lines of:

"Accommodation is available at the venue at a cost of £## per room/person, this price is being held until #/#/1#. Further information to follow with the wedding invitation. Or contact us at #@#.com and/or the venue on tel. ### to find out more /book."

There's probably better wording, just trying to keep it brief to fit on the STD (as you don't want the STD to be all about the accommodation).

I'd try to get any further discount ASAP, that way it's in place if people do start booking early.

I have just started making my save the dates and I have done a separate card with accommodation information, just for people who will need it. But I think it would be fine to put it on the back instead.

    Thanks Ladies.

dhughes, your wording is great as it's short and to the point and I'll be sorting out a better discount for those who wish to stay more than 1 night in 2 weeks when I visit my venue, but if successful that will mean more additional information again and possibly a separate discount code as well....hmmm maybe I should just state that if anyone wishes to make their reservations early then they can contact us and leave our contact details???

Why is it even the small things seem to have complications to them ?? Bang head
