  • Dirty nappies overnight - possibly TMI!

Morning all, J (at 17 months) has got into a manky habit of doing dirty nappies overnight and he tends to do this at least every 2 - 3 days. He has normally done it by the time we go to bed so it's quite early on. If we wake him and change him he gets so upset it takes hours to settle him again and he is really grouchy the next day but if we leave him he obviously gets a bit of a sore bottom (and stinks upstairs out!). Has anyones elses LO done this and if so was there anything you did to train them out of it?

I was thinking about this the other day after you'd spoken about it and the only things I came up with were giving him his dinner earlier on (food always pushes the poo through!) or his last bottle/cup of milk earlier on. It could be that the final glug of milk is pushing the poo along!

Logistically we cant do that, we get home fron work at 6 so it's a mad rush getting him fed and then he won't drink his milk if he has it any earlier than 7.30 as it's so close to his dinner. On non-working days I feed him a bit earlier but dont want to get him out of the habit of a late dinner IYSWIM? I've tried giving him his main meal at lunch but he won't eat it - little monkey!

    Yeah it does make sense.

Could CM give him dinner? Or could you try a big meal at lunchtime and a smaller meal at dinner?

He won't eat his big meal at lunch, tried that last week but CM giving his meal might be worth a try, although he gets picked up between 5-5.30 so he will probably expect another dinner when he gets home!

CM could give him dinner and then you guys could give him his dessert, yoghurt/fruit or whatever during the evening? He's such a poo monster. I can't believe he's happy to sleep in his own sh1t ROTFL

OOoh that would also help for your bringing his last milk forward a bit. I'll bet it's that last milk that's pushing it through - Sawyer always poos after a big glug.

I know, it's so foul. Last night I could smell him at the bottom of the stairs!

B was exactly the same we had to just wait for him to grow out of itSad We had the same problem in that he ate at certain times etc and he got an exceptionally sore bum or wouldn't go back to sleep.

I am sorry no advice but we have been there and it did pass!

He doesn't want us anymore - fine, we will have a lovely time without him.

Thanks P - did he stop it by the time you potty-trained him?

He PT at 2.5 years and still wears nappies overnight and he has pooed overnight about four times since then but due to being ill. He now gets up to do it, but it doesn't stop him weeing! So he does seem to poo between 6 and 8pm still!

I am trying to remember precisely when he stopped but can't remember - I do know I had to deal with it once when I was pregnant and couldn't because of naseau but think that was due to illness. So he had def stopped before two... sorry can't remember in more detail.

For goodness sake, don't people come out with a problem for everything! Its a PITA now but I wouldn't worry about the future!
