  • Seating Family & Friends

Where abouts are you seating friends? Towards the back of the room, with family and friends of the family towards the front?

  • Re: Seating Family & Friends

For the meal or the ceremony? Well we did the same for both - close family towards the front, friends towards the back.

Ah, yes the meal. Ought to have put that.

everyone is mixed in with everyone on our seating plan x

  • Re: Seating Family & Friends

I mixed them about a bit but yes, friends mainly towards the back. They're much less likely to whinge!

  • Re: Seating Family & Friends

We had really close friends and family around us, and then everyone else towards the back. We had a round table in the centre so it was easy to put tables around us without feeling that some tables may have been isolated IYKWIM. I'll dig out a pic .....

We are having some tables of friends and family mixed and near the front, purely because of the situation with OHs dad and mum and the father's gf's lot is coming - they are definitely not family, but also would be rude to put them nearer the back. I have never known anyone to be bothered where they were sitting at weddings I have attended though, mostly they just seem happy getting fed and drunk!

It's something my mum seems to have taken over. She produced a table a few weeks ago, as she was "just playing around with it", and that seems to be what were having now apparently! Thing is, I can't really see any other way to do it.

We have a long top table, then 7 other round tables. 3 rows, with 2 tables in the outside rows and 3 in the middle. Our friends have been allocated the 2 tables in the middle row towards the back. Does that make sense?!

I think I'm more annoyed that we didn't all sit down together to come up with the arrangement, which was supposed to be the plan.

I think you're right.  What with everything your mum has done this is probably the icing on the cake!

We had a central oval top table, with five surrounding us (one either side, three across a second row). This meant that nobody was more than one table away from us.

We mixed family and friends where we felt it appropriate (the 30 something cousins etc). My older aunts and uncles were on one table together. We stuck a rowdy group of friends on the one table that was next to an open area, so their noise didn't bounce around.

Are your two tables of friends also friends together (if you see what I mean)?

Bazza, how you have resisted the urge to lock your mother in a cupboard until the morning of the wedding is beyond me!

  • Re: Seating Family & Friends

We're mixing people up a bit, given that a lot of people don't know each other, so we actually have OH's brothers on various tables with friends. If we were doing it the "normal" way, though, we'd have aunties and uncles etc closest to the front, then older family friends, then our friends.

We do have a rowdy table which we've put right at the back!

Like others, we have put friends on the second row and family at the front.

She'd already done a rough plan before out little hoo ha, but yes, it's all totally ruining the run up to the day.
