  • HOW MUCH?!

I got a letter today from the registrar,

It costs £70 for both me and my OH to give notice of the wedding (thats fine by me)

there was also a note saying, because I'm not getting married in a registry office it would cost £300 for her to marry us.

Oh my! are they this expensive everywhere? x

  • Re: HOW MUCH?!

I think ours was nearer to £450 for a Friday wedding plus the amount for giving notice - I think I'm going to train as a registrar!

£25 administration fee just for them to take our booking.

£35 each so £70 to give notice.

£320 for them to marry us at our venue on a Saturday.

    Dear isn't it? Laugh

    Countdown

it is a lot of money when you add it all up!! I wanted to get married in the town hall, but it would cost an extra 120 to have the registrar there over the registry office, so decided to stick with reg office, were lucky that the one in oxford is beautiful.

Reading others quotes it looks the same price as it is here x

  • Re: HOW MUCH?!

I don't think it's expensive. It's the most important part of the day. None of the rest matters one jot if you don't actually get married does it?

  • Re: HOW MUCH?!

I'm thinking I want to train a registrar too!

I'm thinking I want to train as a registrar too!

  • Re: HOW MUCH?!

    Think it's £375 for us.

  • Re: HOW MUCH?!

Ours was £33.50 each so £67 for giving notice (only because we did it before the price increase at the start of the new tax year!)

And it's £401 for the registrar to marry us on a Saturday at an approved venue. If we'd gone to the registry office it would have been £246 on a Saturday!

Notice costs the same throughout the UK, the registrar's fee varies but yes it's pretty much the same anywhere!

I doubt they actually get to keep all of that money.

And for the record, ours was £410 (I think) for them to come to our venue (in Oxford) on a Saturday.  The cheapest was midweek at the registry office but that was still about £150-200.  But considering that it's the most important part of the day and is the only thing that makes the marriage legal, I don't think it's that much.

    Ooops, double post.

They definitely don't! They're on normal salaries.
