Flower girls - help!

  • Flower girls - help!

I need some advice please!! I have 4 adult bridesmaid and 2 flower girls (aged 3 and 6) and I just cannot decide what to do with them!!

I would like the FGs to walk down the aisle before me as if they're behind me I don't think people will see them - I know its traditional for the flower girls to scatter petals down the aisle but I'm not overly keen on that, does anyone have any ideas on what else they can do? I thought about them going to my h2b and telling him I've arrived, which would be cute, but I think they're too shy to speak in front of all the people that will be there.

Is there anything else they can carry down the aisle instead of a basket? I don't really want to get them bouquets because of cost. Is anyone doing anything different with their flowergirls?

Any ideas would be welcome, thanks!

    xx

My flower girls are having crystal wands and will be going down the aisle before us, followed by my 2 older bm's.

Then they are giving out the confetti after the ceremony.

My flower girls will just be walking down the aisle with my bridesmaids and carrying small posies but I have 2 pageboys the same ages as your flower girls and I am making them a 'here comes the bride' flag each to carry down the aisle before I make my entrance.

Ours is going first with my dog and a pomander rather than a posey! My pageboys go next followed by my 4 older bridesmaids and then me.

Thanks for the ideas peeps! I'm not sure my cat is well behaved enough to escort them down the idea but I wish I had a dog!

I love the idea of the flags - I had never thought of that. Very cute! How are you making them? I can't seem to find anyone that supplies them in the UK.

  • Re: Flower girls - help!

I couldn't find any UK sellers either so it must be a new American thing! I had a go this morning with some thick paper for the flag and then cut out some letters in a dark blue thick paper. I will glue them on and see how they look, if they look pants I may just go and buy a stencil and a black felt tip pen lol. I still haven't found a wooden dowel to fix the flag onto so I think I will leave that job to my OH as I'm running out of patience Laugh

Me neither, I think its going to have be another diy job to add to my list! I've become a regular at Hobbycraft, they probably have wooden dowels there. Either that or you could get wooden BBQ sticks from the supermarket and use one of them maybe?!

Good luck with yours, let me know how you get on :)

Bah Switzerland needs a hobby craft! Once I've done it I'll do a flash, it might be a while though!

  • Re: Flower girls - help!

Oops sorry, didn't realise you were in Switzerland!

Brilliant, I look forward to seeing it.

Hi, I've just posted some photos of our wands and teddy bears on another thread here: http://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/t/309073.aspx which may be suitable for the flowergirls, we do them in most colours (not sure what your colour scheme is), it is also something they could keep afterwards as a keepsake from the day, also cost effective than having bouquets for each of them.

Hi, How about the little girls holding a small rag doll, which could be their gift too. M and s have some cute little ones as do my local baby shop called Babee Boutique in March, Cambs. They have a shop and website so worth a look.

Don`t know if you need hairbands or elasics for them but I have some pretty ones on my new website.
