  • Help with hair piece for flora wedding dress

    Hello,

I'm finding it so hard to decide on a hairpiece.  My dress will is going to have green and pink flower motifs appliqued across the dress. Not heavily but scattered. Is it too much to have flowers in my hair as well? I have pearl jewellry. Would it be better to have a flower design headpiece with pearls etc for contrast but still some continuity.  Any opinons?

The dress 10th down on this link has green and pink flowers, like mine but more dense  http://www.clairepettibone.com/bridal/?cp=gallery/campaign-previous

This bride has something similar (looks beautiful) but I wondered if there was an overkill with flowers - her hair, dress and bouquet? http://www.lovemydress.net/blog/2010/06/english-country-garden-wedding.html

Prsonally, i think its a bit too much with all those flowers in her hair, How will you we wearing your hair? are you wearing a veil? Big Smile

  • Re: Help with hair piece for flora wedding dress

That is a stunning dress, Claire Pettibone certainly knows how to get the balance, although the dress is highly decorated, the style is ever so simple so it looks beautiful, I think in your hair you can certainly go for flowers, or a flower themed hair piece like the ones below that I design and make, are you aiming for a theme in particular?

I think that bride looks amazing and for hr that looks fabulous but not everyone can carry off that kind of headpiece, how about just a flower clip, these are some by Carbonneau if you want a price email me.

I do think the other brides flowers might have been a bit overkill but I think a thin, ivory flower garland would be lovely, worn around the forehead rather than high up like the other bride had if u know what I mean? It would suit the dress really well I think x

My hair will be up.  I leaning towards a pearl flower theme headpiece.

I will have a tulle shoulder wrap around like the first dress on here http://www.lightweddingdresses.com/discount-trumpet-mermaid-wedding-dress-c63_89.html

It MAY come up quite high at the back like this one here  http://www.onewed.com/photos/show/traditional-white-wedding-dress-long-gloves-tulle-wrap-on-shoulders

If it's high I guess a veil wouldn't work but if lower like the first one do you think a would work?

Do you mean a headpiece or real flowers? :)

  • Re: Help with hair piece for flora wedding dress

Thanks for input so far.  Could I have your thoughts on whether I should opt for an ivory satin or pale pink blush satin underneath the embroidery.  The bridesmaids are midnight blue, groom a sharfin or slate blue, and little ones are ivory with powder blue bottoms.

Long story, but my wedding is in 3 weeks! and I had a dress all lined up in all over lace and ivory satin BUT dressmaker turned out to be wrong choice. So I had a mega quick change of direction  and to save money on lost money and fabric my boyfriend's Mum produced some antique silk with embroidered flowers, exactly like the ones in the Claire Pettibone picture. Things is new dressmaker thingks the pale pink will harmonise the other lace, antique silk and embroidery more than the existing ivory.  My boyfriends Mum said it was too pink BUT blush is very contemporary AND trying to see what will look best against all the other dark blues.

I'm a dark blonde if that helps. And so with lace, possible pink and embroidery in my dress (wish I had a picture but all being made in one week next week!) I am worried more flowers in my hair will be over kill...

    Hi,

Not sure what you have in mind but i have some pretty lacy vintage style fascinator clips and combs in tonal shades, which could look pretty. They are on my new website

www.weddingfascinator.co.uk. This is all new to me as only just started it. Hope it`s helpful

I think it's down to personal taste but for me that flower hair piece is too much. If you have flowers on your dress and will be holding flowers personally I'd either go for a simple pearl hair band to match your jewellery or a simple white flower in your hair and let the dress do the talking.
