OMG...Lucky Escape!!

OH has just text me to say that the hotel down the road from the one we are getting married at is seriously on fire.

This is a hotel we viewed as a potential venue and was considering booking, the venue we have chosen had the edge but the one on fire was working out cheaper, so glad we didn't let money affect our decision because I can't imagine what I'd be feeling right now!

a venue in essex had a nasty fire a few years ago i want to say it was spains hall but i might be wrong but other venues thankfully helped couples with impending nuptials

This might have happend at Spains Hall? But it definitely happened at Orsett Hall in Essex a week after my friend's brother got married there!

I hope the local wedding venues in Cornwall pull together to help out any stricken brides and grooms.

Absolutely! I don't think anyone's been hurt from what I've heard so that's really lucky but just can't believe it! Absolutely awful and definitely feel for anyone due to have their wedding there! My heart went up in my throat when I first read the text as thought it was our venue to start with!

Hope they manage to get everything sorted...last I heard they were struggling to contain the fire and it might affect the neighbouring hotel (also a very popular wedding venue!)

Someone has just put on Twitter that their son is getting married there on Saturday.  I hope there's somewhere else in the area they can go.

I drove along the seafront earlier (before I knew it had happened) and was diverted up the road next to the hotel.  It was absolutely awful-so much black smoke and flames.

The hotel next to it was our wedding venue and we're meant to be staying there on Monday for our anniversary.

Thoughts to all the guests and staff.

Lord above!!  Same thing happened to us. A really popular wedding venue in Cheshire called Peckforton Castle was set alight on someones wedding day by the groom himself over a dispute about the bill.  He set fire to the curtains whilst his new wife and child slept upstairs! he got sent down for it as far as I know but we considered that venue and my heart jumped when I heard. The awful thing was that the next wedding due to take place there was that of the wedding coordinator herself! How gutted!!

That is horrific, not just for anyone who may have it booked for a wedding but also for anyone staying there right now, or anyone who works there. Hope everyone got out ok

As others have said, my thoughts go out to all the staff and people involved with the hotel, as well as anyone due to stay there/hold an event there!
