  • Re: Budget wedding - Any ideas

Hi!! it depends how much of a budget wedding you are doing and where you are willing to compromise! ... We are hoping to do ours for around £8,000 but we are not willing to compromise any more on numbers (80 day and 150 evening) so our venue is likely to be coming in at around £6,000 alone! but hoping to save on everything else! I would say that venue and cutting down guest numbers or a more informal meal etc is your first port of call to knock a huge chunk off the cost!

wedding dress - sample sales, preloved etc a really expesive shop near me has sample sales a lot and most the dresses are less than half the price!! alsso look at high street...monsoon have some amazing dresses ... im going to have a look there!

bridesmaid dress - High street or sales etc

shoes - Sales again more about shopping around!

cake - cupcakes! or i saw some really quirky ideas....

. french fancie cake with a giant one on top (think the giant one is less than £10 from supermarket and mini ones are couple of pounds a box...the caterpillers are from m&s...and they have added veil and top hat haha!! and the doughnuts are krispy kreme ...obviously they depend on the style of your wedding etc but i think they are cute and a talking point if done right!

wedding hair and makeup - D.I.Y....this is what i will be doing!!

photography - Personally i really don't want to scrimp on my photographer as im into photography myself and know i would find faults but if you have a very talented friend or you can contact a local photography college/university course etc?

flowers - Again we will be D.I.Ying the centrepieces and will only have my bouquet professionally done if i find a reasonable quote!!

rings - TESCO VOUCHERS!!! we did this and got my ring from goldsmiths for £29 - should have been £249!! also if a jewellers have an offer on where they give out vouchers to customers e.g next time you come and spend over £100 we will give you £25 off then more often than not they will not use them...a lot of this type of voucher are on ebay for 99p ish...we got one for h.samuels for a couple of pounds and it gave us £25 off H2Bs ring!

  • Re: Budget wedding - Any ideas

    Ohh top tips!!!

I really like the french fancy cake and the tesco vouchers for rings!!

    Thanks

    Smile

  • Re: Budget wedding - Any ideas

I'd be inclined to contact your local college to source make-up artist and photographer..great for their portfolios!

Ebay is FANTASTIC for bargains and hitched's sale forum.

Dont forget Ikea and pound stores.

PDA Card and Craft are really really reasonable for invitation stock. Lots of flat pack DIY stuff for great price so you can do hem yourself.

Send out save the date by email.

    Good luck! Xx

  • Re: Budget wedding - Any ideas

I've had a look through my wedding box and I have 50 ivory flat pack favor boxes which you are more than welcome to have if you would like them? Let me know.

    Xx

Shelly that is so kind of you, my cousin has offered to do some favours for us as she runs a vintage sweetie shop so we have favours.
