    Hi,

Generally the whole theme of our wedding is going to be quite geeky but I want to do something special for my other half.

He's not too big on attention and is happy to go with my choices but I want some of the day to reflect him, or to do something that will make him smile, and that he doesn't expect.  Here are some of the geeky stuff we are already doing (that he knows all about) but if anyone has any ideas of what I can add I'd love to hear them!

We both love Doctor Who and my OH's suit will be inspired by David Tennants style as the doctor.

I am going to make a card box that looks like a TARDIS.

I've got my OH start trek cuff links.

We'll be walking out of the ceremony to the Indiana Jones theme!

The wedding cake is (hopefully) going to look like a hobbit hole!

I love LOTR and Indiana Jones, my OH loves Star Trek and Star Wars so I'd love to see if any one has any suggestions on what I can add!

    Thanks

Or a remote control R2D2 'ring bearer'?

Hmmm may have to suggest these to the OH ;o)

What about a LOTR style headdress like these?

My OH suggested the best man in starfleet dress uniform. I have to admit. I'm surprised my OH hasn't tried to get a lot of this into the wedding as this is what we were dressed like when we got engaged

I would just like to mention I'm not a big star trek fan but he's a huge star trek fan and likes me to go to things like this with him

Something easy would be to name the tables after some kind of "geeky" thing.

You could buy him a replica sword for cutting the cake?

My OH suggested getting our rings inscribed in Elvish but I've bombed that out as it doesn't mean a lot to me but I think it's a nice idea for couples who share an interest in that sort of thing.

Thanks for all the suggestions - I don't think I'd get the best man in a Star Trek uniform but I think an arch of lightsabres would be great.

As for hiring a TARDIS, that would be amazing - it would go great with my life size Aragorn cut out! Geeked

I love the idea of naming the tables - I think I'll have to go for Star Trek characters!

And I'm definitely going to look at replica swords!

For an extra added geekiness this was our STD card/magnet I put together!

If you'd like to read my wedding report, there's lots of stuff in there about our geeky sci-fi wedding! http://www.hitched.co.uk/Chat/forums/t/236875.aspx

We named all our tables after our favourite sci-fi/fantasy films and tv shows, decorated them with action figures and memorabilia, all the boys wore ties with a star constellation design on, the cake had Han Solo and Princess Leia on the top - all in all, very nerdy! All our stationery was written in a Babylon 5 typeface too. OOH and our table plan was mounted on a 6ft cut-out of the TARDIS (sadly I don't seem to have a picture of that though).

Thanks for sharing your report CuriousOrange, it was a great read, and I love the action figures on the tables - we have enough of them here that we could make use of (if you don't mind me stealing that idea!) Now you've got me thinking of using my Aragorn cut out to display the table plan!

     nuqDaq ta' SoH pol yuch

Roughly translated means that the menu should be in klingon....although the yuch bit is a bit worrying.

Perhaps the best man could start his speech in klingon......

IdeaOr a fairly simple shot for your tog to achieve is the transporter to make it look like you are beaming down and arriving at your wedding location......a fairly simple photoshop job.....Idea

    Peter

Or another thought is to get a Dalek to escort you up the aisle......

A friend at work is a storm trooper, so's his girlfriend. Apparently to be an official trooper you have to belong to a garrison with your own George Lucas approved number. (learn something new everyday!). I've asked him if his garrison would mind staring at our reception for a few hours and he said they'd be game! Not 100% certain we'll book them yet but they said any payment would go to charity which is kinda why they 'troop' in the first place, to have fun and raise money for charity. I've seen darth vader as well, which'll be cool.
