Do i need a footmuff/buggysnuggle or similar??

Recent posts and cold snap have got me thinking about this. I have bought a morrck hoody so i have that for the car seat and i figured i can always put a blanket over that between car and house etc if still cold when she arrives. 

I don't have a footmuff or similar for the pushchair but she will be in the carry cot of her pram for awhile and then it'll be summer, so i was thinking i would just get one for next autumn/winter when she's in the seat and weather turns again. 

So what will i put on her in the carry cot then?! Because i was thinking it'd be more spring like when she arrives i haven't bought anything in the way of pram suits etc. Will she just go in bodysuit/cardy and then blanket if still cold or do i need something else? I have a buzz and dreami carry cot which has a lovely fleecy lining which looks very warm. I'm just conscious that she will be outside a fair bit from early on as we do lots outside and i will be going to look after my horse everyday from when she's a few weeks and suddenly worrying about the weather. 

Of course it could easily warm up in a few weeks but its so bitter today it's got me thinking and i feel very clueless!!! Any advice for a very soon to be new mum welcome  

I think you are due late March? So it could be quite warmish but could be cold. She will be fine in the carrycot with cardy, blankets, hat etc. Layers are better anyway because you can add or subtract as needed.

I would definitely buy a little hat for her if you haven't got one.

I've never had a buggysnuggle or similar for carry cots before. I prefer layers of sheets and blankets when they're tiny because it's easier to adjust their coverings if it suddenly heats up or cools down when you're out. Cellular blankets are really good for that.

I know what you mean about trying to predict temperatures though. I'm all of a dither trying to work out how warm it'll be in May! Last year it was raining and dismal for most of the month but the year before it was scorching! ARGH.

Thinking about it layers probably are the thing for carry cots then aren't they? I've got a couple of hats so will definitely use those. I'm sure i'll get the hang of judging what to put on her and the weather soon enough but its hard with a spring (must be same with autumn) baby as you can't guess what it'll be like. I think i'm especially worried as i know we have to go outside everyday whatever the weather for my horse, mind you i can always leave her inside with MIL if need be in horrid weather as horse lives at in-laws. Hadn't thought of that!

She will defo need a hat. Our hospital wouldn't let the babies leave without a hat!

I wouldn't worry abput a buggysnuggle until next winter for the pram.

I didn't buy a buggysnuggle to start with, and in the early days didn't really miss it as blankets were better. But I did end up buying one later on (when he was about 1 I think).  I still use it now and wouldn't be without it.

Thanks KB3 and scooby. A friend who had her baby in december had him in a footmuff thingy which fit onto the car seat as well last week and he looked very very snug!!! Perhaps i'll look at one for the autumn then for the buzz seat.

E was a Feb baby, when out in the pushchair we used a snow suit type thing on cold days, or a Starsuit from robin's star.  We also made sure she had a hat on.  There was always blankets in the shopping basket underneath if E still felt cold.

I just used blankets in our Dreami Carrycot over her coat. This time ive got a starsuit from Robins Star for the car seat, sling, carrycot etc.

ETA I had the quinny footmuff but didnt use it till the following year

Elliiott was born 28 march, the first week it snowed then in april it was boiling hot! so i would say just layer her up. buggy snuggles and the like are so expensive and it might not get used much. xxxx

I would wait, I know my post sparked your thought but n is still in the cocoon ( soft carrycot for bee ) and it prob won't last as long as a normal carrycot so she will be out of it come end of march and it may still be cold also the bee isn't very snuggle for a baby as opposed to a toddler so that's why I'm looking at footmuffs, so I have one in ready for her to outgrow the cocoon 

In your situation I wouldn't bother til later and you will Prob get away with it until sept time
