  • Disneyland Paris

I got an email from Sky today offering 2 free tickets to the parks at Disneyland Paris. It's not somewhere H & I are mad about going but I know the kids would love it. Nina keeps trying to persuade us to go to America but there is no way on earth my H will go. Absolutely not. No way. Will not even entertain the idea. So the only way my kids will get a taste of Disney is in France (the other country he hates Laugh)

    I've a few questions about visiting DLP if you don't mind;

How long to you need there - can you do it in a weekend?
Is it best to drive or Eurostar? We are about an hour from Dover.
What sort of money are we looking at if we went for a weekend? 2 adults, 1 teen (12) and L 2.

The website is just confusing. Why so many hotels? Any recs on where to stay? I honestly have no clue about this stuff.

    Thank you v much  Thanks

It's about £100 saving on the tickets which is good, but there might be better deals out there. The eurostar website only shows trains to June though which is annoying as we'd be going in October.

  • Re: Disneyland Paris

Don't known if the deal is better or not but a lot of my mates have gone for free with the Sun vouchers?

Oh ok I didn't look for that late in the year was thinking of April time. Stupid that they stop thou? I don't think the email I got was very clear on how to go about it all. I'm not very clever at these things and don't do much booking online for breaks either. Would Lo's under certain age get a free ticket? Mine would be 2 then we could just get the free 2 adults?

We went mid week wed to fri on the Eurostar to the resort itself. A weekend is definitely enough time. We stayed in Sequoia Lodge, on site, near enough to the park itself to walk in 5 mins or so. There are some fantastic hotels off site which are much cheaper but then you have the issue of getting in each day (most hotels probably provide a shuttle bus). By staying on site you can get into the park about 1-2 hours before it opens to the public. Great if you love rollercoasters and don't want to queue!!

Breakfast was included in our price but eating out there was expensive. There is a wide selection of food available but it is all pricy

I really want to take the kids to DLP, I looked into it a while back and I worked out it would cost about £3500 but we are in the North East so obviously extra expense would be petrol there and back and I looked at going on the ferry, staying for 2 or 3 nights in one of the Lodges.

I really want to take the kids but I don't want to sacrifice a 2 week summer holiday to go and can't afford both so don't know what we will do.

I went when I was 15yrs, we travelled down by coach, then the ferry, we stayed 2 nights and managed to get everything in so it is doable in a weekend.  Any longer I you would need to remortgage Laugh

Munchkin those Sun deals are for a day trip, we couldn't do that. I'd kill the kids.

Lauren - from what I saw you book your tickets, then do the rest yourself. They email you a reference and you collect the tickets at the gate. Children under 2 are free but not sure if it's 2 & under or up to 2.

Heartnurse - how much did you pay / spend whilst there?

SW - I'm so with you £3k can be much better spent imo. The eurostar tickets for us in June would be £700! I'm not sure I want to spend that much money.

  • Re: Disneyland Paris

Oh i didn't realise it was a day trip thing...that would be a nightmare. I think a weekend there would be fab...and if you can get some money off go for it xxx

Ah ok, think I will look into it further then. Let me know if you book anything x

I just don't want to spend good holiday money on somewhere I'm gonna hate, H is gonna hate but we know the kids will enjoy.

  • Re: Disneyland Paris

Lauren - I'm sure you could do it cheaper but for what we wanted that's what it was going to cost.

KB3 - I totally agree.  We started saving a few years ago for it and managed to save about £1000 towards it but ended up spending it on another summer holiday Laugh  I loved it when I went and I know the kids would love it but it's just so much money on a few days.  We have also ruled out Florida, I would hate to spend 2 weeks in a theme park queing, I'd rather bathe in the sun.

I guess you won't know unless you go. If it doesn't live up to expectation then at least you haven't payed full price and you don't have to go back. Is H not keen because it's Disney or because it's French?? Lol x
