When we met he showed us lots of stuff, and also gave us a link to the password protected bit where couples can view all of their photos from the day to pick the ones they want for their album. We thought his stuff looked great, but looking at the website and some of the flashes on here and recent threads about how important a TOG is I'm just not sure anymore. Problem is, when we booked him (about a year ago) a few TOGs that we had spoken to previously were booked already.

Just sent you a pm btw Mellow Yellow...

Lazy is not an ideal quality in a photographer. It suggests some sloppiness to their pride in their work to me. You don't sound very happy my love. Was the work he showed you from a wide range of weddings? Was it better than the stuff on the website?

cheer up love. Its nothing that can't be sorted!

The stuff he showed us was a much bigger range, and we seen all the shots, pre and post edit. I don't know, I just don't like the website...I probably shouldn't have looked at it tbh.

Thanks for the links - will get to work Big Smile

Oh dear it seems as well you are not happy with your choice so maybe you should have a look at some more photographers. Did they show any of their previous weddings apart from on their website when you met with them?

I would suggest you give him a call for a chat and see if you can meet up again. Explain that you are just feeling a bit nervous and you want to make that you are happy with everything especially if you haven't seen him since when you booked a year is a long enough time to forget how much you loved his work and liked him when you first met with him and all the flashes and endless wedding stuff you have looked at will make you compare things and create second doubts.

If I was him I would want you to be happy and comfortable with me as your photographer so would be more than happy to sit down with you and go over any doubts. If after doing that you still are not happy then you really need to start looking again. You only get one chance to get these photos so make sure that you are happy.

some of the photos seem to of been uploaded at quite a poor quality

Thanks for the advice. Do you mean thatthe photo is poor quality, or that the resolution is off and so when uploaded they appear poor quality?

It might just be a case of he has compressed and uploaded at a lower quality so people can't download his images off of the internet or he doesn't know how to upload at high quality which could mean that he might not be formatting his images properly in post production. Either way you won't know until you meet him and see his portfolio. Hope that helps :)

I would agree with this....many of the images simply look soft, odd colours and blown lighlights which could be wrong usage of compression for uploading to the web. You do need to check though for your own peace of mind. Not all togs bring in web designers to finesse their sites.

FWIW there is a regular on here who always recommends their photographer. He had similar issues with earlier websites.

worth a look isnt it? you've already got him booked...if you can ind someone that is available on a saturday in may...super...if you cant...you liked his actual work so you could ask to look at a few more of his actual work to rest your mind a little?xxx

  • Re: Professional TOGS - in here!

I'm from around Glasgow but am not really familiar with this TOG. There are some good photographs there and I recognise many venues in the photos too as I have worked at them all.

If you decide to try another photographer in that area, then my colleague and I have limited availability for May.

Have a look at our new website, we are still adding new images and making a few amendments, but you will see several completed albums on there and more examples of our work on our facebook page.
