  • Interview wear advice

I have an interview for one of my graduate schemes on Friday in London-town and need some good ol'hitched fashion advice.

I've been out today and bought myself this dress. The plan is to wear black tights and black heels with it. Question is do I wear my black blazer with it or not? It isn't as dark as the website makes out but I'm not sure if it goes?

I would wear a jacket with it, a, its going to be bloody cold on Friday and B jackets always seem the safer option for an interview

What kind of industry is it in?

My opinion is always as smart as possible, but also, that you have to wear a blazer/suit jacket if in the professional sector.

    Good luck!

It's the NHS Management scheme. I'm just not sure if the suit jacket makes it look less smart... Oh well, I'll probably wear it for the warmth like you suggest cookie Big Smile

I would wear the blazer (if the blacks match), as you can always take it off if you are too hot/feel too formal!

    Good luck Big Smile

I'm terrible with what to wear at interviews, I always seem to mis judge it but just wanted to say lots and lots of luck! Let us know how you get on x

I would definitely wear a jacket too. My SIL who does a lot of recruiting in her role once told me to always try to wear something that stands out too so they remember you, for example a red shirt under a black suit. You could always try adding a red brooch or something to add a bit of colour and something that makes you stand out, without losing the formality of it.

Where does the hem come in relationship to your knees? If it's too short you'll not get anywhere - the NHS is hot on modesty in terms of cleavage and thighs! They also don't like skyscraper heels.

Blazer would be fine, but I would add some colour too.

The hem is just on the top of my knees - like in the photo on the website. I think that should be ok. Luckily I can barely walk in heels, so don't think I'll have a problem with any sky scrappers!

@Jen - I thought about that but this was the best dress I could find. I will have a look and see if I have a brooch or similar I can wear.

Thanks for all the luck ladies. I'm slightly nervous only because it's so important. I've done tonnes of interviews before and it's competency based so not worried about that just about how much hangs on it (and the other grad scheme I've got through to the next stage of!).
