  • Please could you....

    ...Recommend me nappies?

I have bought huggies at the moment but have heard conflicting ideas of what is good from everyone and I was wondering what you lovely ladies thought were the best ones.

    TIA x

  • Re: Please could you....

We use Asda Little Angels but have worked our way through all of the brands. Huggies & LA as newborn, then pampers, then back to LA.

We use Asda Little Angels too. I like the price! Plus never had any problems with them.

  • Re: Please could you....

Different ones fit different shaped bottoms, so it's probably best to try a few out and go with what fits best.

I've bought Huggies for my first couple of newborn packs, and am also tempted to order some Just4Bums from Kiddicare as our nursery use them and I've heard good things about them.

Also worth checking out Amazon as if you're buying branded rather than supermarkets they are much cheaper.

That has made me feel a lot better about my choice of nappies :). My friend who is pregnant with #2 Has continually told me that Huggies and pampers are shite and that they leak and feel like cardboard etc, the LA were rubbish too, as were the sainsburys own ones and the only ones I should even consider buying were the tesco own ones as they were the BEST EVER nappy. Now I go shopping with her quite a lot so can't be bothered with the hassle of trying to explain myself to her about the choice of nappies, which is partly why I was wondering what you lovely ladies had to say as I didnt want to be paying out money for something that isnt great - and whilst I Know that all children are different and that nappies will differ due to preference etc, I think I was just doubting my own choices - does that make sense? Im glad I bought a big pack of huggies now :). Boots have them on offer for £6.50 for 64 atm rather than nearly £9.

Also - Roughly how many packs did you use in the first month or so? I want to have enough so that I dont have to worry about going out to get nappies. xx

Have tried most brands but now always use Asda Little Angels.  No leaks - even with 13-14hour sleep at night.

I used Pampers for the first year and never had any problems, I found Huggies leaked terribly. When he got older I started using supermarket own brands and never had a problem with any of them.

Based on the feedback I had on here I've ordered in these ones to get us started...they've had fab reviews and are a real bargain....

I think the rough guide is 8-10 nappies a day when they are newborn. The Kiddicare ones are supposed to be a month's supply roughly.

As others have said different brands suit different bums, so I've just ordered 1 box of these for now and got a few freebie packs/cheap packs of Pampers/Huggies through the supermarket baby clubs x

I would try a few out. I like Pampers, don't mind Huggies, hated Sainsburys own.

I think that what I might do is get a pack of each and then Im covered lol and If I need to change a pack for the next size up I'm sure the store would allow me to do this...Right?

I was considering the kiddicare one as I get extra discount on there too as mum works for Morrisons and they're owned by them :) and I agree that they look like a fantastic bargain! x

I'm using the kiddicare ones at the moment, just ordered my 3rd box of them.  They suit E's bum great and are holding in up to 12 hours of wee at night.

I've even got a box ready for when #2 comes along.

You get quidco cashback too, but if you're getting a discount already you might not be able to take advantage of this.

  • Re: Please could you....

We didn't get on with Huggies in the early days, so we used Pampers. It's only recently (L is 2) that i've switched to own brands. Boots own brand have been pretty good for us, so I get those unless pampers aren't on offer. I've sent Huggies to nursery, as they were ridiculously cheap a while ago in Sainsbury's.

  • Re: Please could you....

We've always used Pampers Baby Dry and never had a problem. The one time we used a pack of huggies N leaked almost every nappy, so we went back to Pampers and never bothered to try anything else!

I wouldn't stock up too much. Partly because of finding ones that are a good fit for your baby, as explained.  But also - when my daughter was born at 39+6, weighting a not overly small 6lb 7.5oz, I was completely caught out to find she spent 2 weeks in prem (<5lb) nappies!  Teeny tiny bum. She was in size 3 when all her friends were in 5!  You can get nappies everywhere - so as long as you have baby's father around or other family / friends, you won't run out.

  • Re: Please could you....

I couldn't stand the smell of Huggies, as soon as LO had done a wee in it, it smelled horrible, but that could just be me!!

We use Morrisons own size 1 and 2 (Pampers night time at night) but then pampers value range type ones for size 3 upwards.

I've heard good things about asda ones though, but our nearest is too far away to make it worth the trip!
