Wedding postponed - but it really is for the best

As the subject line suggests, My OH and I have decided to postpone the wedding. We don't know when it might happen so to help myself I am going to take a leave of absence from Hitched. I might be back this summer (once I have finished my PGCE) if we feel ready. I am probably going to sell my shoes but I'm not sure about my dress yet. On one hand, I do love it but then I wonder if a new dress would help with the mindset of us planning the wedding we want, together, with a clean slate. Also, if it is in the house (which it currently is) how will I stop myself looking at it? OH thinks I should keep it as he knows I love it. A little bit of me likes the idea of looking again and maybe finding something better when new dresses are out and enjoying the experience of looking for it a bit more in a different context.

If you wish to give advice about the dress, I will be around for a bit longer. I am very sad to be going, It is one of the few things I have been enjoying about wedding planning for a while. I wish everyone a wonderful, magical wedding and enjoyable wedding planning.

Sorry to hear this RedKitchie.  I don't think I am going to be much help but if I was in your situation I would get a new dress when the time comes, start a new slate.

I think you may be right FN. I have seen that someone else wants to sell their dress and have been given advice on how to do it. I will contact the shop to see if they want it (they sell second hand etc dresses so it makes no difference that I've had it). Then I'll advertise at the places the poster mentioned. I think it might be a relief to do it actually!
