Wish List for a newborn

My SIL has just announced she's expecting her first baby and as a gift I was going to put together a basket of things that you wouldn't think you need for a baby. But I can't think passed sockons.

What would be on your wishlist?

my nan did me one and it had bibs baby oil,talc,shampoo,nappies, wipes, cotton wool, earbuds

This. Also some really nice handcream. I had no idea just how much I'd wash my hands and how dry my hands would get from all the antibac gel and the hand washing. A normal barrier nappy cream would also be useful, maybe Bepanthen? I really like the Boots cheap one. Nice coloured muslins? You need tons and they are not cheap. Baby bath thermometer and a cute bath duck?

Would second the recommendations for lansinoh and metanium.

Wine. Chocolate. Flapjacks. One of those insulated mugs. Eye mask to help with sleeping during the day.

Arnica tablets to reduce bruising post birth,
Calendula nipple cream - if BFing
muslins
hand sanitiser gel
One of those cups that keeps coffee hot

'dry' shampoo... very useful in the newborn days!

kotex night time sanitary towels
Lucozade energy sweets

Can't remember what else...

Depending on how generous you are feeling I'd add a Morrck hoodie to the list!

But id second the hand cream and thermal mug!
