I've just cooked a bolognaise sauce for the children's dinner and I put it in my slow cooker to keep warm. The slow cooker was an old one of H's nan that she passed on to us. It is in fact a bone fide 'Eternal Beau' slow cooker! Weep Very 80's chic. I remember my parents collecting eternal beau and we'd buy them something from the set each wedding anniversary or christmas - champagne flutes, cake-stand, tea-pot, coffee-pot, napkin rings. If they'd laid it all up at once it would have looked horrific!

That got me thinking about other things that were de rigueur back in the day. I remember all the girls at school having the Elizabeth Duke coffee bean jewellery. I had the bracelet, the stud earings and the necklace and thought I was super cool.

Anyone else remember these? Any other gems to share?

    H x

My friends and I used to wear little men on chains that were silver and made of lotls of little balls if I remember rightly!  Think they were from Ratners!!! Geeked

  • Re: OT - 80's/90's throw backs

My nan and grandad had all the matching Eternal Beau stuff too!

I cant think of loads of things. Hmmm I remember at secondary school which would have been early 90's that bomber jackets made a comeback. Our uniform would only allow blue jackets so we were all thrilled when they started making them in the turquoise/blue colour with bright orange inside the (furry) hood. Almost everyone had one regardless of which year they were in. What a sight.

I remember Eternal Beau! My mum used to have loads of it. She did work at Argos when it was all the rage and got staff discount on it though Laugh

I was just explaining on The Gold thread about my Lizzie Duke jewellery. Clown pendants, creole earrings.

Mr Spliffy was heyooge when I was at school. Benetton & Naf Naf. Fruit of the Loom.

Jungle Fever / World Dance record bags.

I remember we also used to say the alphabet when twisting the coke ring pull of a can. If it snapped on the letter of the boy you fancied you'd wear it around your neck on a shoe lace Weep

Ha ha that took me back too KB3, my dad took me out to get a coat for the same school to Lewisham and came back with a black puffa coat with a Mr Spliffy on the side. My mum was not impressed!

How did I forget record bags??

    Just thought of another one:

Moschino jeans! The louder the better. My mum wouldn't let me have a pair but I treated myself to some purple satin Versace trousers with my first pay packet from waitressing. Oh how I loved them!

Nodding to a lot of these

Coffee shimmer and heather shimmer were definitely on trend in our school. If you were really daring you bought that very deep purple one.

Laughed at the coke ring pull thing. I remember writing the name of boy I fancied in permanent pen on my leg whilst dressed up as a St Trinian for a fun run. Broke my leg on said fun run and was in plaster for 4 months. Was bricking it for 4 whole months that the combo  of permament pen and plaster would permanently tattoo his name onto my leg Laugh

I also remember my friends parents having an EB toaster and thinking how posh they were.

The plastic dummy things that everyone used to wear around their necks.

  • Re: OT - 80's/90's throw backs

I just googled Eternal Beau, I didn't realise that was what it was called. I was given a HUGE stash of this stuff when we first moved out. I swiftly sold it at a car boot.
