May 2012 brides ... invitation advice

Mine are currently half made, and stashed somewhere in my spare bedroom. With just under 8 months to go (eeek!) I was planning to pull them out and finish them off, so there's no rush to finish them before sending them out. Was thinking of sending mine towards the end of the year but didn't know if that was a little too early..

Just wondering when you are all planning to send out your invites?

Im not in may but 2nd June so not far off! I was planning to send my invitations out at the end of January with an RSVP date of March

I think sending them out around christmas or just after will result in lots od delays and stuff!! Im a may 26th bride and a, sending mine out end of jan, beginning of feb!

I'm getting married on 26th May and thinking of sending mine out just before or maybe just after xmas. I'm thinking due to the bank holiday and maybe guests arranging holiday get a ways in that month I should let people know. But I'm also unsure.

I'm doing the same as Flow... I think they'll be overlooked if we send them before Christmas, and people will misplace them or just put them aside for after christmas anyway

Flowmojo - thanks for the tip! Never thought about the Xmas/New Year busy period. I think i'll send them out towards the end of Jan then.

haylee81 - I sent my Save The Dates out pretty early as my grandparents and OH's family are jetsetters and normally take a lot of holidays around May time. Even if the invites don't go out early, they know the date we are getting married .... so no excuses or holidays (I hope! )

I never really thought of delays and mislays, have now though. So after xmas it'll be. Thanks

just incase you didnt know, this is no longer a bank hoiday weekend!! the queen had rudely moved the bank holiday monday to the following weekend for her jubilee celerbations i believe!!

yeah..bummer!!imagine all those people who booked the sunday thinking the monday was a bank holiday! gutted!

Im one of those people!!!

It's a pain in the neck, the whole reason we picked that date was because everyone would be off on the Monday.  My work haven't confirmed the change as yet but if they change it, it's going to be a fight for annual leave!!!

Nothing we can do about it now, just hope no-one doesn't come because of it. :(

We get married on the 25th May and I've just finished writing our invites tonight. We are sending some of them next week (to family that live in Germany, Scotland and the Midlands) so it gives them chance to sort out accommodation etc... 

We're not going to send the others until later in the year/very early next year.
