Mandalay were doing free RSVP cards with their invites when we ordered about 2 months ago, so we got them - not sure if that offer is still on.  Otherwise, we probably wouldn't have bothered - we set up an e-mail address specially and would have put our postal address and phone number on.  I guess it depends how organised your friends/family are!

  • Re: Did you/are you including rsvp's with your invites?

I am. And putting stamps on them. Otherwise organising all the meal info will be a right 'mare and I'm not collating info from a bunch of random sources, FB, phone etc, I'm just not. Anyone trying to RSVP in any other way will be politely asked to put the RSVP in the post "as the caterer needs it".

OMG!!! That is amazing! As an accountant, I have been very organised with my spreadsheets and budget, but that use of software has put me shame! That is interesting though, so you sent info out after they replied? Anyone else done that or did you send info out with the invites?

  • Re: Did you/are you including rsvp's with your invites?

Wow! I thought I was organised with my budget excel spreadsheet. I was thinking of doing mail merge for the invitation envelopes.

Don't suppose you fancy sending on that access database :)

Nope! I used wedding website zankyou. You can put all the info regarding the wedding on there and rsvp on it too. It was awesome. I got all my replies 3 weeks ago (wedding is not for another 2) and I can arrange tables from the site and export details to excel. It's amazing.

I swear doing it online was the best decision I made. I hate putting things in the post. They get lost or I just can't be bothered getting stamps and going to the post box.

We did - a card with their rsvp & any dietary requirements as well as an addressed envelope. No stamps though.

I do think it really helped to get people responding quicker - we invited 180 to our wedding & in the end had 160 guests.

I got an invite in this week for a wedding & have to wait for OH to go up town 2moro to buy an rsvp card which we'll post over wkend. If it had included one we would have rsvp'd the next day.

I did matching postcards with bits to fill in. Am missing a handful currently (RSVP deadline was around 2 weeks ago). I got a variety of randomly filled in ones, quite a few humorous/tongue in cheek/defaced ones and several without names on them. Fortunately I knew that was going to happen and numbered them all on the back.

The only thing I would do differently with them would be to have put stamps on them myself but money was a bit tight at the time.

Did you send hand invites to older people - ie grandparents? I've put loads of the extra info (accomodation, travel etc) on a webiste I've created so not planning to send out loads of inserts with the invites, just include a web address. Not planning on rsvp cards either as people can rsvp on the website or just email us etc but OH is very concerned about the older generation who don't have internet or who don't use it in the same way as us younger folk so might end up printing the information out and including it in just their invites. I think we do have an excessive amount of old people though!! Lots of great aunts/uncles etc.

We haven't got alot of older people but for those we have we just gave them a call and told them we would rsvp if they were coming. Think they liked the phone call to be honest :-)

  • Re: Did you/are you including rsvp's with your invites?

Our venue has a good website, but I knew that only about 3 people in our combined families would cope with anything online, so printed out everything and sent with the invites.  I did include RSVP cards for all day guests, as we required menu choices from everyone.  I wrote people's names onto the RSVP card, so they had one card per person.  That means I am now able to make everyone an individual menu as their place setting, and no-one can accidently eat someone else's main course if they've forgotten what they asked for 3 months ago!

  • Re: Did you/are you including rsvp's with your invites?

We did but ours were pocket invites so the rsvp was on one of the pull out cards, we also included addressed envelopes

We are including a web address for a lot of info (Visit Bath) but printing stuff out for people we know don't have internet, including OH's mum.
