  • Birmingham Dress Lady

I'm in a bit of a pickle, I have seen some bridemaid dresses and bridal jackets on the Landy website that i like, however i now a lot of people on here swear by the Birmingham Dress Lady.  Can i send her pictures of the dresses i like and will she replicate them?  Same with the jacket? Or am i better sticking with Landy?  Also to get fabric samples from Landy is £23 how easy is it to get fabric samples from the Birmingham Dress Landy.

I wouldn't be able to get to the shop and want the jackets in standard sizes, one jacket in ivory for me and 2 to match the bridemaid dresses but the dresses made to measure, can it all be done via email and the phone.

Has anyone got an email address for her?

Sorry loads of questions, we were going to get our bridemaid dresses from BHS but my bridesmaids are 15 and 13 and the dresses don't fit them properly, they don't look brilliant and the style isn't great so i fgured made to measure was the way forward but i don't want to spend a fortune, with them both being teenagers it isn't something they will wear again, it probably won't even fit them this time next year.

    Thanks

Hey, i got mine from her. She's very good. Yes i do think she can do a dress from a picture. You can get the fabric samples from her online shop but i dont think you can get chiffon samples for a couple of pounds. I know a while ago she was taking some time off for chinese new year but i dont know if she is back to work yet. I dont know her email address sorry but her details should be on her ebay site or you can contact her through ebay like i did :) x

    hi pinkypie8,

I have ordered my BM dresses through her. If you go onto the shop page as in previous post and scroll down to the bottom it will give you the contact information including the e-mail address.

I've sent her a picture of the dress I want her to make 3 of and she was great. She confirmed that the measurements I gave her (which was a lot) were ideal and more than she needed, she clarified what I wanted with regards to the detail and promised an earlier than advertised delivery date due to our level of conversation. I have also asked her to make thre boleros to match which isn't a problem but these only come in standard sizes and not made to measure.

I am still waiting but I cannot wait to flash her handy work on here. She was going away for Chinese New Year but I know she has been getting feedback on eBay over the last few days so she might be back now, but don't quote me on that.

I cannot speak for Landy but I know the Birmingham Lady is great for communication. Good Luck!

Thank you to both of you.  I have sent her an email through ebay, asking about a million questions so will wait and see what she says.  I don't want to buy them and they be wrong but I don't want to spend a fortune as the girls won't wear them again.

Hi, just wondered how your dresses turned out from the birmingham lady???

  • Re: Birmingham Dress Lady

    Hi

WOW I didn't expect a reply to this thread so long after the wedding. Here are a few pics to show you. Apologies for the large pics!

This is the original picture from Raylia. I didn't want taffeta which is what this is made from and they were not flexible on the material.

The dresses came out a bit long but they were easy to sort out and we had enough money left in the budget to sort it out. Here they are

What to you think?? I was thrilled when they arrived!

Good luck if you do go and order something from her!!

  • Re: Birmingham Dress Lady

Thanks for your reply!!! They looks lovely - Im definitely going to go and see her now!!! How much did she charge you per dress?

    You look fabulous!!!!

  • Re: Birmingham Dress Lady

    Thank you!

My mum paid for them but I think they were £60 per dress and £20 per bolero. I know you can get cheaper from her and from elsewhere but I really wanted that style as they matched me so well I wanted to pay that bit extra to get exactly what I wanted.
