This thread must get the award for longetivity....it was started back in 2008 ...I wonder if the prices have changed much from those stated back then!

  • Re: How much would you pay for a live band?????

Prices changed? It would appear not.

First post "The cheapest we have been qouted so far is £990.00"

So band prices haven't risen in ........... a lot of years. My friend has played with the same wedding band since 2001 and he still gets the same money for a gig. Makes you think, would anyone else expect to get paid the same in 2001 as they do in 2012 for doing the same job?

  • Re: How much would you pay for a live band?????

Round here, plenty are getting less.. as a choice between that and no job...

    Woof! £900?

The band playing for me are £700 and thats for 2 x 45 min sets and DJ-ing in between AND after!

They would have done 2 x 1 hour sets but our timings mean we want 45 min sets. They are also learning some songs for us too.

    Where are you based?

    We're based in Glasgow.

How many are in the band you've booked?

There are 5 of us and a sound tech. We offer up to 4 hours of live music, will learn first dance for free and possibly a couple of others, offer 45 minutes of ceilidh and can have a dj if required at no extra cost. £995 do people think that's expensive?

From that we take home about £100 each and i'll normally leave for a gig about 5/6pm and be home from anytime between 3am and 5am.

There are 5 in the band I booked and the fee includes travel, PA etc. Two of the members of the band own a recording studio so are well experienced in live sound.

They would have video-ed the reception too but we didn't want that.

I do work in the business (house music though) and am thinking of branching into weddings/events bands and DJs so if you were interested you could PM me and I would consider you for an agency I am thinking about starting.
