H and J are now 1 and could have cows milk but I am going to wait until they are 1 corrected to change it.

They have Aptamil at the moment which is blooming expensive - especially for 2. I don;t know why I chose Aptamil when they started having some formula at 6 months!!! £7.90 now! SOme of the other formulas are much cheaper and Farleys is under a fiver! can I swap them over or will it upset things?

Someone told me you have to add something to Farleys. Is this true? They have a multivit everyday anyway. Oh and my final question - which is better for fattening James up? Formula or cows milk? I would imagie formula has a lot more calories but I'mnot sure why I think this.

    Thanks

Formula and cows' milk have about the same calories volume for volume.  However, formula is fortified with extra vitamins and minerals.  It also contains less protein than cows' milk making it easier for smaller babies to digest.  I'd be inclined to do as your doing and continue with the formula until the twins are aged one corrected, but I have no scientific/basis for saying so!  Could your HV advise you?

I have no idea why Farleys is so much cheaper.  I use C&G Premium which is just under £7 a tin now.  I haven't heard that one needs to supplement if one uses Farleys- again, I'd be inclined to ask the HV.  There are laws regarding the composition of infanmt formula and Farleys must meet these, although I know that C&G/Aptamil etc make a big play of some of their additional ingredients (e.g. prebiotics) so perhaps that is why they market them as a more expensive product,  Whether there's any real scientific basis for their claims, I wouldn't liek to say!

I use C&G 2 (hungy baby) and I fully intend to swap Poppy onto Farleys follow on milk in the next few weeks (when she reaches 6 months) as its only £4.70 a tin compared with the £6.98 I usually pay

I don't know if this will be useful to you but here is a link to information on formula' s and what each formula contains. I found it really helpful when deciding to stop BFing and it helped me choose.
