  • My HV came to see me about everything

And I feel so much better. I cried a lot, but she didnt know a lot of the things that had happened before I had Eleni so I pretty much started at the beginning and it helps that she knows it all now. She told me Eleni is doing well and looks great.

I explained some of the things I'd been doing with her over the last week that had really improved for us (basically to trust my own instincts and not worry about what other people think is the right thing to do). She sleeps in her carrycot, I put her down without all the rocking and she sleeps for at least an hour each time, she goes down without a fuss. I can leave the room for 5 minutes. I can eat. I can go to the toilet. She told me to forget everyone else and my neighbours and do what I feel is right, she said there was nothing wrong with what I had done and it was right for us.

Ok so it doesnt solve a lot of the issues in my head but it's blooming well making it easier to get through the day.

I told her about all my problems with hospitals and other HVs and all the rubbish things they had said - like E is 'too alert' - wtf?

She's coming back next week to see us and how we're getting on. She was here 2 hours today.

That is so wonderful and refreshing to read **Pip**. Are you feeling exhausted now after talking about it all?

I'm glad you were able to chat with your hv and that it's made you feel better, it is amazing the difference it makes being able to talk to someone.  Also glad to hear E is napping better and you're getting a little break, nap times are what keep me going!

That's great to hear, having a decent health professional to talk to and actual listen to your problems can really help.

I totally agree, don't listen to other people - you know E best, so carry on trusting and following your own instinct!

    Big Hugs to you.

I am glad you have had a positive experience and feel better for it.

Stick with your gut instinct. Despite what people might say, there is no 'right' or 'textbook' way for raising a baby.

  • Re: My HV came to see me about everything

You are sounding much more positive Pip. Well done x

  • Re: My HV came to see me about everything

Yes I am exhausted but relieved that someone is listening to me.

Great news, I'm SO glad you've found someone who talks sense and that you have confidence in.

It really sounds like you are gaining in confidence and starting to trust your instincts a lot more - things will get a lot easier as you become more comfortable with this, I promise. It's a difficult task for any new mum, but even more so when you have had such bad experiences.

I hope the message that you are a fab mum is beginning to sink in - it's absolutely the truth and E is very lucky to have you as her mummy.

(and sod the damn neighbours - it's none of their beeswax what happens in your house, and they have no right to judge you)

  • Re: My HV came to see me about everything

So glad you have finally had a health professional you can trust and have confidence in and that listened to you. You're doing a great job and no matter how hard it is, you know what's best for your baby so don't listen to your neighbours or anyone else who interferes x

I can well believe how tired it made you. Believing in yourself is the best thing and you've proved yourself right too xx
