Christening - gown or dress

We are trying to start organising G's christening. It is likely to be the first week in May when she will be about 6 months. I tend to like tradition, but have started to think about the practicalities of the christening gown in terms of nappy changes, getting in the car seat, etc.

We had the next christening dress and a cardi from bhs (next one was out of stock)

We had a gown for Zoe which she wore the service and shortly afterwards, we then changed her into a pretty dress so she could play more easily with her friends.  We didn't have to put her in the carseat though so I don't know how that would work.

It was the week before she turned 6 months.

I love the Next dress. I want Emma to wear my old gown but I'm not sure it'll fit her on her big day next month. I really must try it on her and start shopping around if not.

We had this from M&S and 100% loved it. I wanted simple & traditional & real silk. We drove to church due to pouring rain, so got her changed into it at church.
