Please can you send some really huge good vibes......

Well I'm back, at £300 lighter. They suggested that I take her to the emergency vets as they ahve now closed at 5 and she should have someone look after her. But she seems a lot brighter, she wouldn't move earlier, now she is drinking and walking around so I took her to the emergency vets and its a £180 consultation alone! So as she's a bit brighter I've brought her home and will obviously take her if she gets worse. I wish I could just take her to the vets but she said the final bill if she is discharged tomorrow would be around 1K and then I would have to take her back to the first vets which would cost more, I really can't afford that unless its essential. But I feel like a bad mummy now Why does this happen now that I have no full time job!?!?

So I'm hoping after the drip she had she will be ok. Vet said she can't find anything wrong, just that she was very dehydrated and col because of the lack of fluids.

Glad she seems brighter Moonpig. Strange that your own vet can't look after animals overnight and the £1k bill is a lot. Our bill was £500 for 5 days in hospital (he has been in several times though at £500 each time), several operations and a zillion different medications so maybe you could even look at going to a different vet that might be cheaper if she needs to be looked at again. I thought my vet was expensive!

She's almost back to her old self now, just a bit quieter than usual. The vets have left her line in for her drip so I called up to ask them to take it out, and they've talked me into taking her to see the vet for another 65 quid! But I'm just glad she's feeling a bit better.

Hi moonpig, glad shes better, it's a relief isn't it. I would really consider taking out pet insurance. Its only a few quid per month, and will save you money in the long run. My two cats go outside, so I took it out a while ago just in case. Oh and another thing, hopefully you won't need this in near future, but the larger Pets at Home shops have a vet in them and they are also open on a sunday.....might be cheaper than an emergency vet...

Sods law is I completed the form online for pet insurance just last week, but I had typed the last digit of my account number for the direct debit incorrectly, so they had written to me to say that until I provide the correct details the cats will not be covered. And with eveything thats been going on lately I compltely forgot about it. Well that's my lesson learned!
