The girls need new socks - where will I get nice ones that stay on?

So far I have sworn by GAP baby socks but they have limited colours etc and they get a bit tatty.

I also need tights but grudge paying a fortune when I need 2 sets - any ideas?

I get Abigail's tights from Asda - got 3 pairs for £4. Cheapest i've seen although there were just plain. Think the patterned ones are dearer.

Socks - not found any that she'll keep on tbh. At the moment she has some from Gap and Pumpkin Patch but they all get kicked off!

<sigh> I am still to find socks that don't fall off.

Tights, Primark have loads of funky coloured ones in at the moment.

  • Re: Socks/tights

Matalan had a huge selection of tights when I was in there the other day (plain colours and patterned) - £3 for 2 pairs.

Or have you tried Ebay - I bought Lily a 4 pack of Next tights on there for next to nothing.

Not sure where to get cheapest tights - I have a little boy, so we were looking for plain tights is any colour other than pink - and found some nice ones in John Lewis and on ebay, I was so pleased to find tights to go with his clothes, I didn't pay attention to the price!

For socks - we have just got a set of "Sock-ons" from Jojo Maman Bebe which go over socks and are fab at keeping them on.

We've always got on better with Tesco socks than the Gap ones for littlies.

Second Matalan for tights, fit well and good price.  Do bobble quite a bit though IIRC

Another vote for Matalan tights, and Asda are pretty good too.

Socks are pretty pointless in this house until someone invents sock glue but Gap are the only ones that seem to fare slightly better than others.

I have realised that knee high socks (she has one pair) tend to stay on MUCH better, but no idea where I can buy any more (the ones she has were a gift).

  • Re: Socks/tights

I bought lots of socks other than Gap ones once Z got a bit older and I wanted pretty patterned ones.  It was a huge mistake and we've gone back to plain white Gap socks which, while she can get them off, take a bit longer.

I've also just invested in some Shoo Shoo's which was an expensive way of getting her to keep something - anything - on her feet.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

Another vote for Primark  for tights. Better than the John Lewis ones which started unravelling after one wash.

    Tights from Matalan and Asda.

Socks I get from Asda, but I also have these soft shoes. There is a E*bay shop called mytwinkletoesshoes, they are £3.99 each and I am raving about them to everyone. I have yet to find a child who can pull them off.

We have the spotty and red ones!

Sorry not what you asked for but a good way of keeping them feet warm and not worrying about pulling them off.

We vote for Hennes/H&M. good selection of colours, really long socks, and they've got the grippy stuff on the bottom of the larger sizes of socks, perfect for our laminate flooring!

they had lovely gold tights the other day.... hmmm, maybe I ought to pop back this week!
