I know I know there is plenty of time but she has been breach for ages now and isn't moving around.  The kicks have been in the bottom of my stomach for as long as I have felt them.  I have read the Spinning Babies website from front to back and am doing forward inversions every night and the rest of it - but she is still breach.

I am completely terrified of having a c-section and having to look after a 17 month old who won't understand that I can't pick her up and H will be working away during the week so I'll be on my own.   Could you tell me some positive stories about babies who have turned, when and how??

    Thanks

    X

I was breech until the week before last. I was worrying but the midwife promised me that he had plenty of time to turn etc. He did at 29weeks. I was doing 10 mins a night on all fours with my head lower than my hips in the vain attempt it may help and I think it did. The MW will say otherwsie but hey.

I'm just praying he'll stay head down now.

Thanks KB - you have to feel like you are doing something don't you?  So pleased for you that baby has turned.

Way, WAY too early to worry Laugh

Lots happens in the next 20 weeks so plenty of time to turn. Even if she doesn't, there's ECV which is pretty successful. And if it comes to a section, the Etceteras are not far away (in fact, we're not far away anyway because section or no section you'll need some help Hug)

Please don't worry. It really isn't a concern at this point in your pregnancy. Izzy was breech until 28 weeks, then transverse, them oblique (diagonal) until she finally went to head down at 35-36 weeks. I've done breech turns using hypnosis on women as late as 38 weeks. Baby is likely to move around a few times more before it's at a stage where you need to think about moving her round. Did they tell you at the scan he/she was breech?

That being said, it's always good to follow the advice on spinning babies. Try not to slouch back on the sofa too much, it's bad for your back anyway. I really wouldn't be too worried about it.

Stop worrying - plenty of time.  In fact, I can tell you about when I had my 4D scan at 27 weeks with Amy.  We started the scan and she was right way up but being stubborn with her legs and arms so we had a little break - literally sat up on the couch thing for a minute or so and looked at the pics.  Lay back down and she had flipped breech in that time, and I hadn't felt a thing.  If it weren't for the fact that I could see her on the screen I wouldn't have believed it possible for her to flip without me knowing, but there you are!

Please don't worry - enjoy this wonderful little being growing inside you and relax x x x  And sections aren't that bad, honestly - both my girls were (one EMCS, one elective as you know) and you would cope just fine.  And I'm not just saying that to make you feel better x  Two weeks post section with Amy I was at the SANDs party, remember?

    Hug

Cheesecake and Trixie thanks.  You are good you lot.  Actually Trixie was that only 2 weeks!  You looked fab.

Cheesecake that is good to know - I guess in worst case scenario that she is still breech late on (yep they confirmed the breech position during my scan) then there are plenty of things to do.

    Wibble wibble worry worry.

Samson was breech until 36+5, he turned of his own free will around 37+2 (which was very uncomfortable!) waters went at 37+5 and he arrived the next day. So things can happen at the very last minute.

Please don't worry just yet. Hug

.....and how did you get to be 20 weeks already! Eek

Let me tell you about my breech twins...

At my 36 week scan they were both breech. They'd been breech or transverse since the 20 week scan.

On the morning of my section(36+3)  I had another scan and they were both head down!

I did nothing, they turned themselves despite me sitting well back in the chair all the time!

Surely the only place you will feel kicks at this stage is at the bottom as youuterus is only jus reaching you tummy button by this stage. She could be flipping several times a day with out you realising. Don't worry, my son was transverse at 37 weeks and I was admitted and told there was no way he would turn at this stage but he did.

At least two of my three were breech at the 20 week scan, but they all turned at some point. I've no idea when they turned, and I never had any idea what way up the were from their kicks/movement.

Thanks all it is reassuring to hear about babies turning of their own accord and Pops...I have no idea this pregnancy is flying by!

  • Re: I know it's early to worry but breach at 20 weeks

I only felt kicks low down until late 20's weeks anyway -  at 20 weeks there is still space for multiple somersaults so there is more than enough time for turning multiple times before your due date!!
