  • Help on invite wording

Yes, it's another question from me (sorry)...

My Dad passed away when I was about three so the invites will be coming from my Mum only (never remarried).  Also we are getting married and having the reception in the same place...  No idea how to word it.  Found this wording but don't like it (changed the names to sommat silly - that is not my future husbands name or my Mum's name!)  Oh and my name isn't Gertrude...

    Mrs. Ethel Ethelson

    requests the pleasure of
    _______________________________
    company
at the marriage of her daughter
    Gertrude
    to
    Mr. Ernie Ernieson

    at Somewhere
    on Friday 10th September 2010
    at 2.00pm
    and reception afterwards at
    Somewhere else

I am SO confused...  My friend is making our invites and would like the wording from me - no idea what the best is to go for - don't want anything too formal or on the other hand too casual.
    Thanks lovelies :) x

Personally I quite like the wording you have above although, if you are having the ceremony and reception in the same place, I would just amend to:

    Mrs. Ethel Ethelson

    requests the pleasure of
    _______________________________
    company
at the marriage of her daughter
    Gertrude
    to
    Mr. Ernie Ernieson

    at Somewhere
    on Friday 10th September 2010
    at 2.00pm
    and to the reception afterwards

I think this has a formal ring to it but not too ott

I think it sounds fine. Don't forget to look in the stationary - wording examples, of the hitched site. That might help

  • Re: Help on invite wording

For this circumstance I usually use the following wording:

    Mrs. Ethel Ethelson

requests the pleasure of  the company of

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

at the marriage of her daughter
    Gertrude
    to
    Mr. Ernie Ernieson

    at venue name and location
    on Friday 10th September 2010
    at 2.00pm

followed by a reception (or There will be a reception to follow)
