The other place

I've not registered. Hitched is faster now anyway. Wasn't this the problem? 

liz, for me at least the slowness of hitched was only part of the problem. it was also the general attitude that we got from the site owners and also the fact that it had just got less sparky here - I miss the daft trolls, the fast pace of the threads - that's why I've enjoyed my flirtation with the other forum. 

the swearing thing got up my nose a bit too. sometimes this place feels like naughty school kids getting a ticking off. I'm still undecided about it here, time will tell. 

Thanks MrsB, I can understand now. I suppose I hadn't really thought about it like that. I'm still going to give hitched a chance for now, it is a shame that so many have left. It's so quiet here these days.

I'm on Hitched a lot less these days and I'm not planning to use the new site.  TBH I think I've just gone off using the internet in this way- if I read a post I heartily disagree with these days my first instinct is no longer to argue against it but to think "why am I wasting my time reading this rubbish?" and log off- I think I've just spent too long here, really.  In addition, I don't find Hitched as funny or as fun now certain regulars have left  (although plenty of fun, funny people still use the site, of course).

I haven't experienced the slowness, other than once or twice, and I'm not too bothered about the swearing rules either way- I can see why Darren doesn't want a board full of  four-letter words and it's hard to draft a rule that distinguishes between carefully crafted sweary bon mots and offensive rubbish, so I suppose it has to be one rule for all.

I think I've just gone off forums though- it's not a Hitched thing.  

I'm finding it difficult to keep up with both sites in the little time I have to chill out these days.  Most of the people who are witty and fun are on Twitter/Facebook so I don't think I'm missing out.

I've not been here for a while and feel a little out the loop lol. Can anyone give me a hint as to where the other place is? :)

As much as I agree about the swearing thread and being told off (and I did think about giving up), once Dean came on and explained it all better I felt like giving them a second chance.  This place has meant so much to me and I really appreciate everything that Darren, Dean and their team do to keep this place going.  I think a bit of loyalty is more than deserved.  If I decide to stop posting then that's one thing but I shan't be leaving here to go somewhere else.

My thoughts exactly. I said this on the original thread and then another thread and even questioned whether the name 'Hitched' could be used as another forum yet the original poster did not have the decency to answer me. I shall not be registering on the new forum. I did click on the link to have a nose but it came up with all sorts of pop ups and, ironically I encountered all manner of problems in the 90 or so seconds that I had the page open for.

I appreciate that 90% or so of Hitchers did but I have never had any problems with Hitched being slow and did wonder what all the fuss was about tbh.

I don't think I suffered as badly as some people but it was definitely slow for me.  If it was here at all.

I'm going to cling on for a bit longer though...
