New to Hitched!

Hi there everyone, I'm new here and by the looks of it a pretty late starter as my newly created profile thingy has just informed me there are only 112 days to the big day! I must confess to having developed a serious lurking problem over the last couple of weeks but everyone on here seems so lovely and helpful that I thought this would be the ideal place to share all my planning excitement and dilemmas with other B2Bs.

Whereabouts are you?

I'm in sunny Paisley, near Glasgow.  Getting married at Ross Priory by Loch Lomond on 27th November this year.

Hello!  Welcome to hitched!  That wedding count down thing is great, but also worrying.....I started off with over 700 days, now into the 300's and it's going so fast!

What have you got planned so far then?

how are you getting on with your planning?

We booked the date about 2 years ago and then put planning on the back burner cos we had to find a house before then! We only started planning about January-ish and only really seriously in the last month or so! So far I've got:

Photographer, hair and make-up, florist, cake, bridesmaid's dress, one half of my dress, 3 pairs of shoes(!), honeymoon booked, music almost chosen, first dance chosen (but not practised in the slightest and we really need to practise!)

The venue is doing all catering and we're doing the big planning meeting with them next Sunday. H2B has ordered his kilt and stuff.  I felt sure I'd organised more than that but it all just escapes me whenever I try to pin it down on paper!

I'm making cloaks for my BM and FG (not started), making invitations and orders of service (not started) and lots of other things that I'm sure I've not started but should have! Still, it'll all make the run up to the day more exciting!

OMG you are soooo sorted! what have you got left? 

colour scheme?

I'm into decor right now so stalking every thread for that too!!!

Colour scheme is bottle green and ivory with little splashes of silver.  Table linen (arranged by the florist) is going to be black cloths with ivory runners and ivory napkins tied up with green ribbon.  As it's going to be near Christmas I figured I can get away with green (despite my mum thinking it's bad luck, hey, I'm having pearls too so the fates can fight it out!) and the venue will be half decorated for us so savings on the flowers

Think my "Still to do" list includes:

Make favours; make invitations; make orders of service; make cloaks; get FG's dress, shoes etc; think about BM's hair (no idea about that!); get fitted for the other half of my dress; finalise the guest list; sort out my dad and brothers' kilt hire etc; work out what set photos we want; confirm our choice of readings is acceptable to the registrar and all the fiddly stuff like jewellery and last minute odds and ends.  There's probably a million other things I've forgotten though!

MrsP (almost) your colour scheme sounds fab. Is green bad luck?! how about lime green (mine...).

are you doing your own invites/favors etc?

Don't know about lime being unlucky - phooey to bad luck myths anyway, if it's the colour you like it can't possibly be unlucky. 

I'm making my own invitations, rsvps and orders of service. All designed but not started yet!  I'm doing favours too but not much to do there - I've got wee organza bags that are going to get jelly beans put in them I think, although I keep toying with other ideas.  I think the only things I've got where I'll need to get all arts and craftsy is I've got wellies that I need to glue some rhinestones onto (it's Scotland in November so rain is quite likely!) and I desperately want to have marshmallow top hats at some point during the day because a part of me believes it's not a proper party without marshmallow top hats, rice crispy cakes and jelly and ice cream.  I'm such a child.....
