LO goes to a pre-school attached to a school, she finishes on Tuesday. What is the norm regarding presents? Is it something that is generally done these days, if so can anyone make suggestions for a gift. It was never done in my day but the gift and card shops seem to suggest otherwise.

It's totally up to you, we used to get thank you pressies ranging from a box of chocs for all to share to a pressie each member of staff.

A nice idea is a voucher for new toys for the preschool e.g. Early Learning Centre or a book that you then write inside the front cover.

Wine?? This is the best present I've received from a pupil! Alternatively, flowers or jewelery is always nice. I would steer away from chocolates and bath sets - the teacher will get  a tonne of them!

I've got an idea but don't know if it's naff, the 2 teachers and classroom assistant have nicknamed Libby 'Libby Lipstick' after she went in one day with a jar of lip balm that she wanted to put on. The name has stuck since and they often greet her by that name when I drop her off, I was thinking of a fancy lip balm as part of gift - something like you get from Lush or Bodyshop. It's original but I don't know if it's a naff idea.

Dove-that's a great idea, makes it a bit more personal.

I think that's a lovely idea and thoughtful too!

Thanks for vote of confidence, off to town now to see if I can find a nice lipstick case and a nice lip balm.
