  • What Toys would you get rid of???

As part of my "get the house on the market and sold" campaign the next step is down sizing the toy boxes..............

So What would you get rid of? And what would you keep out for 4 yr old,  2 yr old and 6m old? I'm planning on putting the excess away in the rented storage unit, rather than actually getting rid, though I do have my eye on a few irritations.............

After Poppy's birthday yesterday I'm about to do the same but have no idea what's going to go away yet.  My plan is to get everything out, sort it out and then put things away that neither of them play with at the moment, keeping anything that Ned might like when he's older and then getting rid of the rest.  My big plan is to get lots of little boxes for each specific toy so that she can do what she does at nursery and get out a toy play with it and then put it away.  Somehow, I think the reality might be different!

depending on how much time you have to impliment it - could you keep an eye on the toys they like to play with and then gradually tae away the others and put them in a box. leave it a while and see if they notice its gone. if they dont its probably safe to get rid off! is your eldest able to understand the concept? and perhaps help pick toys he no longer wants to take to the charity shop for other children to play with?

He's old enough to undrstand it would make sense to just choose toys belonging to his brothers!

I'd ditch the real baby stuff, the rattles and so on. Probably any soft toys that aren't needed in bed or played with (we already have too many at only 18 months). Anything with batteries that annoys the f*ck out of you and J (that's anything by VTech then).

And specifically, *I'd* ditch the horrendous doll MIL sent us. If it had been anyone else, it would have been charity shopped long ago, but as it's her I feel I can't.

Loosing anything with batteries is a very tempting plans but unfortunately they tend to be the ones that keep Ned quiet so I guess that Ben might be the same!

We already have toy storage like Lowkey's but it just means everything gets thrown in together and never gets played with so the new plan is smaller boxes for specific toys but not sure where they'fd going to go yet...

Cath - at least your MIL bought a doll, mine appears to have forgotten Poppy's birthday for the second year running and has only ever bought her one toy (a bear) since she was born... (although not having seen the doll your MIL sent, maybe nothing is preferable to that?!)

well in our house it'd be soft toys, MissSun has a large bucket full of them and she doesn't play with them.  Every time I try and have a clear out she gets upset and wants to play with it all.  Toys are taking over.

I'd keep anything that is good quality and well made and also anything that all your kids can/will play with, and ditch anything broken, annoying or badly made!
