  • FAO: AllyDrew & other BLW's (dairy free/sugar free flapjack receipe)

Just wanted to bounce this as I made them yesterday & Harry had one for his breakfast this morning. It went down very well Big Smile

    Hi love Wave

I made these flapjacks for Harry this afternoon & they are yummy Smile

As I was munching one of them, I thought of you & Milly and your allergy woes. Anyway, IIRC Milly is "ok" with bananas? In this case, this receipe is just made for you both.

    Banana & Date Flapjacks

    2-3 small bananas

    1 cup chopped dates

    2 cups oats

1/3 cup veg oil (I used unsalted butter, but that's because I only had olive oil in the house - in flapjacks I think that'd taste yuk Wink)

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Method

Mash banana. Add in dates & oil and mix well. Stir in oats & vanilla. Leave for 5-10 minutes for the oats to soak in the oil. Put in well greased baking tray (mine measured about 30cm by 20cms). Cook on Gas Mark 4/160 degrees for 25 minutes.

They really are yummy. Do you think Milly would be ok with all of these ingredients? She can have some directly (I made them initially for Harry, but will definitely be making them again for a healthy snack for me too!) & you can also eat them too - as we all know oats are fab for your milk Big Smile

Anyway, hope things are ok with you & Milly.

Big cuddles from Harry & I

    Hug

    xxx

Oh bless you CL, that's so nice of you to think of me!

Pretty sure Milly will be ok with the ingredients. Not tried her with dates yet. but if she reacts to them I'll just have to eat 'em all myself.

    thanks again

Sound yum! What I want to know is, is anyone going to bring some of these on Friday?! (looks meaningfully at Ally) lol

    Ideas and donations welcome x

I bookmarked this recipe because it sounded good. I used sultanas because I didn't have any dates, it's in the oven now... I'll update when I've tried them!

I made these on Friday, using raisins instead of dates and they were yummy! They went down very well with my friend's banana obsessed 18 month old!

    Big Smile

Am really glad people like these!

I actually made two lots of different flapjacks on the same day; these & "Zesty Flapjacks" by HFW and, I have to say, I prefer these ones - which is brilliant for my waistline Laugh Harry is actually eating one as I type - and it's going down very well Smile

Will try them with raisins next time as they sound yum....

    xx

  • Re: FAO: AllyDrew & other BLW's (dairy free/sugar free flapjack receipe)

    Thanks HB & beauty Thanks

    Glad you liked them Smile

Beauty - did you want child-friendly recipes? I seem to be doing mostly them recently Laugh Have used a few from the BLW forum and some from the Annabel Karmel book - they've (mostly) been fab. Especially the Savoury Flapjacks & Chicken & Apple Balls. I also did a sugar-free rice pudding (adapted from AK) that turned out surprisingly yummy.

Let me know if you fancy any of these & I can post them up

Ooh yes please CL, would be interested in the Savoury Flapjacks and sugar-free rice pudding, but I think I had better confess that Phoebe is well passed the BLW stage but still use some of the recipes on her Embarrassed. Thanks soo much CL you are a lovely hitcher indeedy xx
